BATTERY TIME ON A 12-VOLT DEEP CYCLE BATTERY

Here's a real work sample from Interstate Battery (RC on the chart references AH) http://www.interstatebatteries.com/m/category/rv/rv-deep-cycle Group 24 w/ an RC rating of 100. It supplied 5 amps for 13.1 hours, 15 amps for 3.8 hours.

BATTERY TIME ON A 12-VOLT DEEP CYCLE BATTERY

It would depend on on the battery, the radio, and if you were transmitting or just receiving. A common group 24 deep cycle/marine has a 70 amp per hour (AH) rating. AH / Current Draw (A) = time (H) AH = 70 A = 5 H = 70/5 = 14 Modify AH and A to your particular setup.

Difference between a straight 4 pill and a 2x4 amp?

A straight 4 transistor amp will require NN watts to reach the designed output. A 1 (or 2) x4 would use the extra transistor(s) to provide NN watts when the radio cannot. 2x4 amps (insert lumber joke) are generally competition amps for short keydowns. 1x4 amps are useful if you have a low...

Stryker modulation in ref to TS 500DX amp.

I'll be honest, I did a quick look in the internet and did not see that is was an active PEP meter, so I could be wrong.

Stryker modulation in ref to TS 500DX amp.

The meter you are using is not an active PEP meter and therefore will not show you true PEP - but it is still a useful tool. ** EDIT If the SWAN is a true Active PEP meter then all of this is hogwash** :) *Generally* speaking, that type of circuit will show ~70% of true PEP. That said - The...

Connecting radio to linear then to swr\watt meter?

What amplifier are we talking about? You most likely (like, really likely) need to lower the deadkey of the radio as you are driving that amp too hard. 2-4 watts is normally the range for a common bi-polar transistor CB style amp. I don't know which amp you are using so at this point I can't say.

    SWR Meter Poll

Yup, I used it extensively until I got the LP-100A and I still use it for mobile and low power situations.

    102 inch antenna

A quarter wave in free space in feet is 246/f. 246/27.185 is 108.589 inches. Since nothing is free, they stole some when they made the formula for a dipole :) I'll measure my MFJ whip from HRO when I get home later today.
