Thanks that was the direction I was leaning too. I will toss a 12.5 or 24 volt switching power supply in the power supply area. I was going to put everything in one box but I figured a two box setup would be easier to control heat. So power supply in one box RF deck in the other. Less parts...
IF anyone use's PVC get the grey stuff it is rated for outdoors use and has UV blocking agents in it. If you white the sun and ozone will make it brittle fast meaning it will break at some point. I would cooper pipes for the radials if your are making rigid about ground radials.
I like this short post on 10m repeater use. One of the things back in the 1990's when I almost got licensed that I wanted to do is revive 10m. I have no idea what it is like today but back then 10m was the red head step child that 98% of Hams looked at with disgust......I never understood why...
I have an assortment of used and new Bosh, P&B, Siemens, Grundig etc....they are all 12-24V DC rated.
So I got to thinking I know scarry right? I do not have anything in the rest of this rig that is 12 or 24 volt DC everything in here that needs a voltage to trigger it is AC. So I was...
No to be Clear.
Input voltage is 120V off house mains.
Out put: red and blue leads center tap 1100 V at 1 amp this is for one transformer.
It has another set of leads that outputs 150V but I did not measure the amperage on those.
The problem was that the leads are identical in...
Well at 13.5 pounds they are not power houses that is for sure. I do plan on occasional prob. once every few years going on AM. I do prefer SSB so that is where I would more then likely spend 98% of my time.
I do not need to hit my target of 2500V @ .800ma that would be if I wanted to get...
So I have two transformer with a center tap voltage of 1100 Volts @ 1 amp and 150 Volts. My voltage and amp target is 2500V@.800ma as a minimum standard. I want this device to be durable and lst mr the rest of my life.
I can :
Wire to two to get 2200 volts@1 amp and and not need a doubler...
Well yes I was under the impression that the main determining factor for my final voltage was the starting voltage of my transformer and my diode string for all intensive purposes... The caps are just their for filtering the all the tops and bottoms that you have clipped of the ac source to...
Trust me I have some decent books.....Electronics for Dummies figured they got that title right on the money for me!!!LOL I have a 2008 Copy or ARRL Hand Book..... I have some old books that where written in the 1950's and 60's with basic radio communication circuits and such in them too...
Actually I am quoting the manufacture of a pre-made voltage rectifier/doubler those are his number's not mine! I just found it late last night in my insomnia fueled search engine frenzy!
This person sells lots of kits which is why I asked the above because it goes against what I already...
I think it will change the way a lot of people look at computing. I think it has the potential to be even more Apple iPad then the apple Ipad......It has a lot going for it for those that do not need the additional trappings of a full blown laptop. Speed, Battery Life, Connectivity, Apps...
I do not mind size. My Toyota Camry and Buick LeSaber both have large trunks. My trunks are empty or close to it 99% of the time....I keep a change of close, a jacket and few hand tools in my trunks nothing major no golf clubs, no dead bodies, so space in the trunk is normally not at a premium...
If you cut the secondary winding off with a chisel on the MOT the shunts fall right out after you clear away the copper. if you use insulated normal wire you get a rap to volt ratio on those MOT's secondary of about 1 volt per wrap. So if you take your normal high voltage hook up wire and make...
I have not done anything like this since I was 14 in Boy Scouts but I am going to ask anyways. Have you considered taking the windings apart just to do a center tap? This would also give you a chance to dry the paper out in an oven at 180°F and you could saturate the paper with resin or...
I know my target for two tubes is 2500V800ma for full output. I have to say I am not that concerned about being able to drive each tube to it's limit. What I am trying to figure out is how much no load voltage I need to arrive at 2500V@800ma. The reason I say this is because under no load...
If you know how to read the pin out on a Potter and Brumfield or Bosch 12V relay you can do this yourself in not time. You could also just buy a Toyota....LOL My Toyota Camry is wired that way from the factory when I turn my brights on my low's stay on. This way your field of view is not...
On the 12 gauge lead melter I urge anyone looking for a hunting slug gun with a rifled bore to look at the H&R single shots. The current recorder holder for hold the laughing bench rest slug gun shooting used one to win. I have had one since they first came out with it. $149 at Walmart it has a...
I amnnot a fan of country music but I am a fan of hot looking woman so since they are usually fans of country music I know more then I would like to about this subject. Their is some male country singer that has a song and it is kind about the social scene online and all the lies....It has Danny...
