Keep the carrier around 20 watts or so. Remember that your '100 uses low-level modulation...and as such won't develop 'swing' like a rig which utilizes high-level modulation.
My FR101S and FT201 sound very good on AM -if- I follow that rule...they'll distort otherwise due to lack of...
