    upgrading regulators

that would have more of an effect on performance then just changing regulators. In anycase, you really wont see any difference by just changing out the before mentioned transistors under normal operating conditions.

    upgrading regulators

Upgrading to a higher rated part will do you no better than the origonal if you do not INCREASE the surface area of the heatsink. If you allow them to heat up they will both fail at the same tempeture under the same conditions. Radioman mentioned this in one of his posts. You are just...

Those eleflow transistors that are made in the uk do work, but I have seen that they are not consistant from one to another. The gain on these is all over the place. Good for use in a pinch, but I would not rely on em'.

It complies with part 95?:glare: I think not. Show me the type acceptance cirtificate..... It can be discussed till your blue in the face but I am affraid the radio is illegal just like all of the other 10 meter rigs are. Go and look at the FCC website and see for yourself. Any of those 10...

I see your point. However it would take a unamious consenses in a class action lawsuit to see any kind of justification. And you would need to know who is directly responsible and no one knows that. Also, How would you be able to get a company to honor a warranty on an illegal product...

Robb, reguardless of what "they" do, The radio is in circulation. It is just a matter of what the individual will do with it. Being it is what it is, It should be treated as any other vintage radio should. The gain on the eleflow appears to be higher than the origonal mrf-477.

"There is a limited supply of MRF477s left in this world. Those of us with the original radios that used that final know of this problem and care for the radios accordingly. This new JA is a $150 export with MO POWA in the eyes of more than a few final burning drivers I have spoken to." The...
