I have this workman watt/swr/modulation meter. A while back i noticed when wiggling the antenna out connector on the back , signal would cut in and out. Looking inside there is a brass threaded rod or screw coming out of the center going into a copper tube and kinda screwed into or pushing on a...
Actually I already have a prototype made up from my wire dipole. I just folded the ends at 90 deg. use zip ties at 4" and made the reflector to proper length for ll meters. I set it up using wood stakes on the ground about 2 ft up and had a perfect match, however didnt get much but a couple...
Yes, I machined everything myself, the insulator is just black delrin plastic
Not sure what you mean by "did i clamp both tubes to the stub"
I Plan on eventually getting 1 good length of coax, the 2 coupled together is just to get it 30 ft higher than it was, which I think the good outdid the...
yes, sorry , i guess i meant 1.3:1 sometimes 1.4:1. sounds like this isnt that bad of a match, also the 250 dead key may be a bad watt metere reading, my meter is probably a little off. i cant turn the radio down any lower, it has about a 2 or 3 watt dead key on am. I get great reports of sound...
Ive taken about a year off from Dx'ing but got back in the swing of things recently, last year i was building a 5/8 ground plane antenna and I finally got it up and tuned the best i can. However i cant seem to get swr any better that 1:3 at full power ( around 250 dead key). With the radio at...
I'm reviving this thread 1 year later, i have another thread going about my progress with using a shure sm58 mic into the mic jack on my 2950 base station. I am runnig it thru a guitar preamp on my peavey 112 acoustic amp, specs for the preamp are here...
So what output level from the preamp looks the best into the mic jack?
The manual for my preamp i have has these options. the 1st did not work well, had to turn everything way down and reports were didnt sound well, the second seemed to work well. the last,(xlr out) havent tried yet but will...
Update:
I used the line out on the pre amp instead of pre amp out and it works great, I talked to a station on am and ssb about 50 miless away and said it sounded great, it needed a little more lows but really sound good.
so i found a shure sm58 for 40$, i attempeted to wire it to the radio with some but not good sucess. It is xlr in to the amp but i only had a 1/4 jack mic cable to run out, so i wired that to the 4 pin connector via Robb's instructions for the xlr cable, it did somewhat work when transmitting...
Ok thanks,
Just want to use the mic i have to see if i can even get this working , then will look at a better one.
I studied the diagram but am confused as to what the bottom left diagram is showing. Is that the xlr to cobra plug? If so where does the 1/4 switch jack wire go to?
Eta after...
After reading Robb's write up on Hi fi audio for cb, I want to start expiermenting. I'm looking for help wiring up a dynamic omnidirectionl radio shack micto run into my base setup. I have 2950dx and an older cobra 29gtl. I'm going to try in in the cobra.
My plan is to start with a preamp, I...
Here is some pics, using a coil to match. What i dont get is it seems too long already at 23' yet it has perfect swr at 29 mhz. I have no tuner, so swr is all i have to go by. If i lengthen it 8 more inches swr at 11 meters goes down to 1:5 from 2.5. I cant make it longer, i need more material...
Im playing with a hombrew 5/8. Just put it up, lenght is about23'. I know its too long for 5/8 in 11 meters. However its a perfect swr up at 29.5 mhz, its like 2.5 in mid 11 meter band. . If its too llong for 5/8 wave how is swr better at higher freq? Is it because im aproaching .64 wave and im...
