    Exactly, what's the excitement of radio when you to talk to the same guys day after day. Not trying to come off a rude but if skip is getting in your way then use the phone. I'm bias because the local idiots drive me nuts with who's amp is bigger and how do I sound with this mic. :mad: Enough

    Just made a contact from NY to station 437 in Corpus Christie, Texas on my barefoot Magnum 257 with a Wilson 5000 in a soft top Jeep Wrangler in the middle of buildings and no where near salt water. Anything is possible...LOL

    I don't see where the Wilson mag is the problem. Would it be better if you drilled the hole? Probably yes from what I've heard but I cant see that being necessary.

    Newbie looking to get started

    My old base was a used Antron 99, used astron 20a power supply, used Magnum S9, used coax on a few sections of used Rohn tower. Made contacts to Ireland, France, Jamaica, all over the US and unfortunately the locals too. With patience it can be done on a budget, good luck with it Kobbekid.
