I thought the Mckinley came with a lot of extra channels like the AT6666 comes with. just had to program them off the front panel.. are you saying the radio only comes with the 40 11 meter channels since you said it can not be channeled.

I have had 2 radios in 40 years that the so239 connector had gotten corrosion in it and killed the RX so even a connector can go bad.

as old as the radio is you may have a few caps bad causing your problem. some times bad caps are hard to find if it is more than one.

that radio is worth saving.

glad you found it. be sure to solder the other one you cut earlier. as Robb stated be sure to replace it.

the schematic shows it to be D23 a 1n4003 diode.

did you clip d23? make sure that is the one you clipped. did you try power to the radio after clipping it. you said you show continuity which you will still have some when using a ohm meter to check the power leads. here is then schematic for the 29LX radio...

have you made sure the push button to turn the counter on and off is actually working as it should. over the years I have seen 2 radios the button was not turning on the counter., just a thought.
