    Contex 500 Tube Amp

i had the little green 2 tube contex a long time ago. i had the manual with it. best i remember, it tunes to peak and thats it. the light in the front is a tuning indicator. the brighter it gets, the better tune it has. atleast thats how my context was. it think mine had jg6's in it.

need some info on a president dwight d cb

doesnt it have a variable trimmer on the power supply board to raise or lower voltage? mine has. if it doesnt i would think the voltage regulators are failing on that board. mine had the same problem. as far as dead key, i used the diode beside the modulation transformer. took it out and added...

    Maco transformers

well i guess the hammond transformer i got wasnt right. it was 6.3 filament, 400v and a 28 volt center tap.. i figured that would do it. when i googled the part number on the transformer, thats the one that popped up and finding any specs on the original is like pulling hens teeth..

    Maco transformers

Does anyone know where a fella could score an original transformer for a Maco 200. I picked up a 200, 300 and another 750 this week and the 200 smokes the tranny when flipped into standby. These were all literal barn finds. All cleaned up really well and all original except the 300. It has 6...

    Heathkit sb-200 refurbishment

So I'm assuming this amp can't be tuned anywhere close to 11 meters then.

    PROPERLY TUNING A PALOMAR 350Z

I will do that for sure! it's a great little amp and don't want to ruin it, but it seems to work well like that. The local dx, 75+ miles all say it has great swing like that so I keep doing it. But I will try to find that original post for sure. Thanks for the heads up

    Heathkit sb-200 refurbishment

One thing I just noticed, but this heathkit's bandswitch only covers 80-15 meters and only had those corresponding tuning slugs in the back. All the ones I've looked up cover to 10 meters. Is this one just older than the others? It does have a couple of variable trimmer caps in the back tied to...

    PROPERLY TUNING A PALOMAR 350Z

I drive it with a cobra 1000 with variable power. Keys from 1 to 6 watts swinging to 19-22 pep. I've got another 1000 I've made mosfet that swing about 35 pep that really makes it swing. I know before turning it down inside, mine was the same way. 400 watt plus dead key swinging 600-ish. When I...

    RF signal generator?

I've a 2050 I got from fleabay. Had it a year or so, I like it. I'm no technician, but for me and my radios I pick up here and there to learn on, it does fairly well. I keep a radio that has been aligned to compare them to. It hears well and if I can get them that close with a cheap unit like...

Who are you on the air?

Well on the forums, I'm dozerman, from the work I did for 20 yrs in the coal mines in wva, Illinois and Ky. Since moving to Tennessee, I've had to change handles to keep confusion down. Here in Milan on ch 22, I'm jonesy. But when I stretch my coax out and talk across the road, I'm 277. I'm...

    PROPERLY TUNING A PALOMAR 350Z

What kind of drive are you putting into it to get a 500 watt dk? I know it's a different amp, but my 300a, I was seeing a 350 watt dk with a 3 watt key. I turned it down inside. The trimmer under the driver board. I backed it off until I had a 250 watt key at max smoke. I used the instructions...

    Heathkit sb-200 refurbishment

W Raining in biblical proportions here in Tennessee, so I sat back down with the Heathkit. Not being familiar with these 572b tubes and how they should look at idle or transmit. When I turned it on, tubes lit up and the plates got "pink". I back the drive down to a 12 watt pep radio. plates...

    Heathkit sb-200 refurbishment

Just got the Harbach power supply in today and in the amp. Got the board with the soft start and it was nice not seeing the tubes blasted instantly when I powered on. I let it idle a while to be sure of everything before I keyed and began to tune. Knowing next to nothing about this amp, aside...

    Get em while they're HOT!!

You mentioned the asymod, I looked hard at one of the 939 asymod radios. Asked on a few forums about it. watched the video on YouTube and all that. Technically speaking, what is it? To an uneducated chrome screwdriver like me, it seemed to be a speech processor.

    Get em while they're HOT!!

Kinda like to know what they are calling "big finals" i guess it's like 15 years ago when they advertised big galaxy finals as cobra upgrades when it was just the 1969.

    Get em while they're HOT!!

I love those little radios, but a man can buy 5 of them for that price. I looked up what all had been done to deserve that price tag and, it's $15 in parts. BUT, they claim it's the best radio known to man afterwards lol

    Get em while they're HOT!!

That's exactly right! If they can ask that much for a cb radio, it's gotta be a hot commodity!!
