Not an expert, but not a dumb ass either. Just a comment like yours. This is off topic anyway. I hope that Freecell will do the right thing and settle up with the fellow. Nothing sucks more (except my ex old lady) than when someone does not deliver what you pay for. That is the point of...
If they work those are the ones it should have. Maybe not the ones it came with new, but it could have been changed over in the 25+ years it has been around. Typically that amp came with LQ's as finals driven by JG's.
A search of this and the CBTricks forum will provide many posts on the Scout...
It should be VR 13 for high power and right beside it VR16 for low power. Set high power first then low. One question. Why do you want to key 7 watts in high? Usually around 4 on high and 2 1/2 on low is good to drive any amp. The Galaxy export radios are basically the same layout...you...
When are we going to see the photos of this custom built amp? You have been given many suggestions..........now it is time to put them to use. Get it going and post some inside and outside pics for all the world to see.
Using your ohm meter function the meter should deflect in one direction when you touch it with the test leads and when you reverse the leads it should deflect in the opposite direction. If it does not the meter movement itself is bad.
I agree. It would be bad if someone tried to install a noise toy in their SB 220 because they read about it here. They might even drill a hole in the cover.:headbang
Well......................duhhhhh!!!!
I did have an amp that had an echo. The magnetic contactor would make a decent amount of racket when it engaged and setting in a room with nothing on the walls it would resonate the room pretty good.:thumbup1:
Yes, it is C5. If you look there should be two 47 ohm (yellow, violet, black) 2 watt resistors tied to the half moon connection on the can. Beside each connection to the can is a symbol (square, triangle, or half moon) to tell which section is which. You can unhook the supply line to the can...
You need to disconnect the wire from the 3x40 cap that feeds HV to the radio and see if it still blows the fuse. Leave the tubes out when you do this also. You can see where to do this on the schematic at the link posted. It is the 410 volt source in the lower right hand side of the...
The comment about 100 watts of drive speaks volumes of the quality and accuracy of the wattmeter. The 2N2905 keying transistor or the entire board for that matter wouldn't take that kind of wattage. However you can use something like a JB 12 to drive the 300A with only in the low power...
Good point. An amp that size would benefit from having a Bird line section built into it and the meter and slug on the front panel. It would be like the hi power Glen amps built back in the day. Also it would eliminate one jumper in the RF chain. Heliax from the antenna straight to the...
Sounds a lot like my project. using the WD7S triode board, with all the features u mention. I am using 25 amp SSR's for the stepstart. Russians have a very nice filter cap, that I think is better than an oil filled. Of course vacum T/R relay for QSK.

Cool. After thinking a little more in...
