You must have a TUP9 stand then with six wires. Go to this link and see if it will shine some light on the subject.

You will not have to change the driver to see an improvement. The 2SC1969 final will give more wattage than the stock final however you need to change a few other components to complement it. Changing R43 to a 2.7 ohm, R108 to a .47 ohm, and changing to the 1969 final will show a definite...
Ususally the rectified DC on a 750 is 925 to 1050. Some of the transformers were hotter than the others............depending on the production era I guess. The older blue Macos normally were in the 950 or so range.

You can add a 1K resistor in series with the "hot" wire off the element and this should cure the problem if it is in the mike.
Now if all three mikes do this on the same radio that will point towards the radio.

Does the meter go into the corner when you key the mike or do you have to speak into it for this to happen. It seems I have seen this before.........maybe a diode or cap in the xmit meter circuit. I'll see if I made a not of it.

Make sure that the SWR has not changed. Sometimes when this happens it will cause the radio meter to act strange. Most of the tuned 25's I've seen will send the needle to the corner when you are talking on it.

I guess there are bad ones in every bunch then. The John Boy 3 X 3-500Z amp I saw was a real clean and thought out build. Everything was laid out well and rated with enough headroom to not overstress the components. I haven't seen a 250B amp so they may be different.

The tube in the posted photos looks like a 4-1000. I know several people who have John Boy amps and they really like them. I've seen several and the build looks good also. It is not just thrown together like some of them.
Buckshot on I 20 in LA built a few of them. He got the parts kits from Blue Jay in Jackson, MS who also built a few of them. There may have been others to do the same. Blue Jay got cases of them every week. 350's, 425's, 800's, 900's. He also supplied the amps for CB shops from Texas to...
Some of the TX 600's I have seen had house marked devices. Normally they were RF100 for the driver and RF150 for the finals. The 800's and 900's used a 2290 driving four 2879's. The 600's did not have a fan mounted on them when new.....the later models had two fans. Any version works good...
The amp is the forerunner of the TX 800 and LA 900 amps that were made by Steve in CA. It is a real good amp. Here is a link with info on the amp.

Ed McMahon died this week. He was a great entertainer, but prior to his stage accomplishments he was a distinguished Marine Corps fighter pilot in WWII earning six Air Medals and attaining the rank of Colonel. He was discharged in 1946 and was later promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in...
I agree that Alan would be the route to go. He can replace the original 6LQ6 tubes with cheaper, higher filament voltage tubes that will do the same job as them. He is a top notch technician on amps and Browning radios. You will be satisfiied with his work.
