Original 1992 first run Dave Made M400 *pics*

Just to keep things straight, this was not directed at my good friend Mack but, at the idea that an 18 y/o garage built CB amplifier is a thing of beauty For the sake of discussion (not argument) what is it that we should we be so impressed by and "joyfull" about seeing in those pictures...

Original 1992 first run Dave Made M400 *pics*

Get-otta-da-way or, you are gonna get run over by The Smithsonian Institute, that old guy on "Pawn Stars" or maybe even those nose-Pickers from the History Channel; 'shirley' there is gonna be a race to see which museum (Land Fill) this ends up in first. Let my put that another way, "It...

Mismatched tube impedence-can I use in parallel?

Kamikaze, in your opinion, what was on the circuit board mounted to the wall that fried? I am thinking that it had something to do with an output indicator, Maybe an RF Ammeter? .

    JB-150 Tube heating issue help!

Yup, -32 volts to cut it off in receive and -16 volts in transmit. .

Mismatched tube impedence-can I use in parallel?

Well, it seems that you have the PA section from a Military transmitter of some vintage; most of the hard parts are already there, just positioned in inconvenient places. If possible, you would like to keep as much of the output network intact. 1. I would want to move the Plate tune to...

Might be able to buy 4 of these

Yeah but! Look at those cases, that would make one hell of a Amplifier enclosure. He could strip them out and, sell the distribution transformers and un-needed stuff on Ebay. With what a smart man could garner from those units, he could afford to buy any B+ supply X-former he wanted...

PAL Electronics 750B Tube Amp........Help Please.

What is the problem with your amp? .

Mismatched tube impedence-can I use in parallel?

LET’S PLAY STUMP THE TECH Surely, this amplifier has a Model number, a manufacturer’s name or, maybe even post some pictures of it, that way, we could give you intelligent answers and not just guesses. Yeah, well tell us about the hardware as it sits, how much B+ does the X-former...

    JB-150 Tube heating issue help!

Good Catch! That schematic was probably drawn for the benefit of the FCC at that time. Looking at the schematic, if you simply change the "T" and the "R" connections mentally, you can see the amp working in transmit. .

    JB-150 Tube heating issue help!

When that relay ( the Antenna transfer relay) is normally closed (in receive) , there should be -17 vdc on pin five of the tube. When the amp is in transmit, the diagraphm says that it should have -32 volts on pin 5 of the tube. Verify that you have the correct voltages on the different...

Amp for Garmin GPS tracking system.

Mack, you old Flamer you, quit hazing our newest pledge; we are no longer allowed to conduct initiation rites, rituals and, blanket parties anymore. Here's an idea, maybe he could 'Volt" the transmitter in the collars like they do with the "Dave-Made-Dave-Made-Dave-Made" CB amplifiers. .

Amp for Garmin GPS tracking system.

Hows about he make a mini Yagi antenna and mount it on a broom stick which can be held high over head, the systems now becomes directional. Really, I would think that higher power collars on the animal would work better than a receiver amplifier; terrain is probably what is affecting your...

    Black Book Of CB Linears?

For someone who is not "educated in electronics", the repair/ modification that you want to install is kinda like re-inventing the wheel but, when you get finished, your "wheel" will not be round. I would strongly recommend that you find a 10,000 ohm (10 Kilohms) potentiometer and replace it...

    New 300 Maco Problem (idjjoker1)

I took the liberty of starting a new thread for a post at the bottom of a long archived message. The Tricky CB Site is down so, access to documentation is limited. Your amplifier is going into "self excited oscillations" (boiling). Pull the driver tube(s) out of the first stage and...

    High voltage arcing in amp?

<church-lady voice>"Well, isn't that special". </church-lady voice> Congradulations on your repair, I am glad that your "scientific approach" to trouble shooting solved(?) your initial problem of "High Voltage Arcing" in the Load tuner or, did it? Good luck with your amp and, *we* look...

    maco 300

Trace back the circuit from the Radio connector, you will find a 10 pf capacitor ties to a 47 ohm resistor, at the bottom of the 47 ohm resistor, you have 22 uf inductor, a 33 pf cap and, a 1N914 Diode which is connected at the SSB delay switch. 1. The 1N914 diode could be bad (blown...

    Messenger 800 help

This question has been here a while without being addressed. I don't have a picture from which you can follow but, there are Messenger Amplifier roadmaps on the CB Tricks web site; the amps are all built on the same principles, if you understand SS amps then you can apply what you need to...

    High voltage arcing in amp?

The OP started out with a working amplifier that was arcing in the load gang and now, he is changing parts out that are not problematic. The amp had to have had the DC Blocking Cap in it to be working in the first place and, there there was nothing wrong with the Tank coil. *I* believe that...
