Thanks fellas for the info on the Yeticom- simply not available here in Alberta, and no Canadian site offers them for sale that I could find.
Ok I did find a new Uniden PC78Elite radio on sale in Ontario- I bought it. There is a limit to my budget and it fit. should do for a good radio for the...
Things You Want Always Cost More in Canada. Actually I don't mind paying a bit more to an installer for the radio in order to to support local business. That way I get the service I want too. It is turning out to be twice the cost of my original budget but I don't regret buying a better antenna...
Hi K Mike, Thaniks for the update, I am thinking of a base in the future, perhaps this coming summer. I will take a look at the models you mentioned thanks. I like good but old, I have two really good stereos using some of the better 70's equipment and love it.
I got you on the coax, it'll be fine to use for my setup.
I did have a look at the Yeticom reviews and it looks great. I have made up my mind to follow the law here and it is 4 watts and that is it. I am going to make every effort to have the best setup possible within the law. That is why I am...
I believe the name yeti in yeticom may refer to a particular snow man called a yeti up here in Canada I checked out the radio and it's not for me but thanks for the suggestion.
But I like the name.. Of bad to the bone. It will be some time before I can justify spending more to better the Sirio...
So the deed is done, ordered the Sirio Performer 5000PL with mount today. it would seem to be about 10-14 days to arrival.
The Breedlove mount is desirable.. for another time. Cannot buy everything as best off the beginning line, gotta leave room for mistakes and corrections down the road lol...
Those Breedlove mounts are the best I have seen, overbuilt for sure. I have decided I would like to end up with a Predator Bad to the Bone antenna down the road, but for now the Sirio will do the job.
Is ther an advantage in the PL259 roof hole mounts over other hole mounts?
Binrat, never thought of noise from the coil! Probably not a big factor for me. But if the enclosed coil of the Sirio is quieter then that is a plus for Sirio.
So it's Sirio 5000. I have no idea what to order for a mount or if the Sirio comes with a good roof mount for the hole to be cut. Got...
Sirio 5000 would be my first choice, with longer the whip. I was just reading about an antenna called the Predator, a external coil job. Seems to be something of a standard too. I like that it's American made, down in Texas. Anyone familiar with this as well?
Picking the radio and mic is much easier than finding the right antenna. In the seventies we did not like fiberglass antennas.. Maybe I should thro open the doors to all suggestions by describing what we have and where we want to go.
We have a 2003 Subaru Outback in good condition, pic below...
I did not know there is a cb shop in Leduc. Aidrow in Edmonton normally stocks K40's for their business 2-way installs and suggested that for the Outback. They were unsure that a Wilson was available from their supplier, never mind a Sirio Performer 5000.
But it's not about what they can get...
So it's looking like either a Uniden 980 or a Cobra 148, and a Wilson 2000 60" drilled into the roof about 2/3 of the way from the front of the roof of my 2003 Subaru Outback. Anyway you stack it this is going to be my first mistakes in cb. God willing there will be a few more as well. :)
I...
