Ratso If you look at the pics i posted the first one has one less digit then the newer one so they did upgrade the radio. I have used both and the newer one is a lot better than the first design but I have to say I think you right if you want your name on the front it can be done for enough money

I sent a Grant II back to France in the original box then a USPS Flat rate box cost was 61 dollars and they paid he way back to me so to get it fixed for 60 bucks sure beats getting another radio. Where did you come up with 175?? Overnight?? That's crazy and I did it so I know.

What are you talking about with 400? If I remember the center pin on the mic has 12v so you could always get a 6 pin plug and give it a trial and error until you get the correct. I did try my Magnum mic adapter and was told the stock mic sounded better then anything I tried.

Look around Ebay you can find one for less than 30 bucks just not with the power cord with the switch in it. Same unit just not with the frills

Don't for get about old reliable 2950DX might not be the best but does the job very well. I will say I am an Optima fan also
