I tell all D-104 owners that you need to replace the single electrolytic capacitor on the amp board due to the age of these mics. If that cap is dried out, the mic will sound like crap and people will blame the element and that may not be bad. Easy fix and the cap is just a buck or two...

Can anyone tell me where to get a decent set of the 2 or 3 tools that are made for adjusting the alignment points on most cb's? The cheap plastic tools that I got from Fair Radio only last for a few uses before the ends get chewed up.

Well, my Fluke 1920A counter arrived at the repair center in Trenton, NJ Friday. I cant wait to get it back and try it out.

I have a 2970n2 and i see no reason to unlock the clarifer. I talk all over on 10m and people running $5000 radios say that my radio is spot on.

This is why I snagged that nice Fluke 1920A. My old Heathkit IM-4100 bit the dust, so i opted for an older lab grade counter.

I just found out from a post on another board that TP6 was eliminated by Ranger, and R160 is the new TP6.

It has a problem with the on/off switch, but did light up. I sent it to a repair and calibration shop. They are going to fix that, check it for bad caps etc, and calibrate it.

Well i learned something new today. The 10.240 vco was not off. I had used my MFJ 259c's freq counter to measure it and it is off. Yes, it had been on for over an hour. I checked it with the counter built into my MFJ antenna analyzer, so the accuracy may not be the best. I will check it later after my good Fluke counter gets back from the calibration lab.

i just hope the settings for the older 959's on cbtricks havnt changed on this new radio. I think its total bs that ranger, galaxy and others dont put out updated service manuals. I know this is part of the reason that most dealers stopped selling RCI Ranger radios now.
