Just contact him and let him know what is wrong with it. He has all the service documents and schematics from me already.
While you have it apart, you should replace the electrolytic capacitor on th e board. The D104 is old enough to have those caps dry up and it may make the mic sound tinny. People will blame it on the mic element, but might just be that cap goin bad.
I bought this because im just starting out learing the basics. I wanted it mainly for the signal generator function. You can drop the signal level to under a microvolt easily and quickly. Eventually, I plan on buying a better generator or communications monitor. My next step is a better scope...
Anyone have any idea how old the CB-42 might be? It is built to test 40 channel radios, but also seems to do tests on non PLL radios too. The circuitry seems to be pretty old school stuff too.
I just recently bought a Sencore CB-42 test set on Ebay and sent it to a shop to be refurbished and calibrated. I just got an e-mail telling me that it is going to live. He cleaned it up, checked it for out of spec parts and replaced a few electrolytics. Then he went through the calibration...
I have a question about the transmit alignment procedures for the RCI 2970N2 and the Galaxy 98VHP. Assuming the amp boards are the same, Why does ranger recommend setting the gate voltage at 3.5v with 100w deadkey, and Galaxy says 4.0v at 65w deadkey? How much of a difference does .5v make with...
I have a 2970N2 that I bought new. Don't let anyone bs you. I have a blast with it stock out of the box, no mods. I sit in florida on 28.425 MHz and talk to hams in California and they say it sounds great. The radio has a real VFO, and can also do splits for 10m FM repeaters. Yes, they are...
Thanks for the replies. Does 20ma for the driver sound about right? Every radio out there seems to have different specs, even though they use the same transistor.
Im trying to restore an SS 3900eghp that has had tr-32 clipped out and I am trying to set the driver and final bias current settings. Service manual says 20ma for the driver and 160ma total for the dual finals. I am assuming this means 80ma for each final. When I try to set the two final bias...
im still waiting for RCI to bring out a service manual for this radio. I don't see how they can expect to sell these things for $500+ and not offer a service manual...
