JJD, when you were having your problems that was when I was ordering my amp. I remember RD was trying his best thats why I ordered from him. I havent heard back what kind of #'s the amps are doing. The person I traded it to had to straighten some wires out. I am kind of anxious to see.
For me a combination of what frmboybuck and JDChet said. I like just a smidge of echo. Its the differance between big a big strapper and just another little radio ;)
Dxmans maco works great. I have more area right now and would like to get an antenna like that but I am in a valley and dont know how it would work out.
I always thought the tophat on antennas was for dissipitating static charges in the air. Hence the top of antennas like jays, wolfs, and the ever famous m400. So it really does nothing or nothing detectable to the ear?
I have had Jays I10K and all I can say is it is built like a tank and was a great talking antenna, To bad I sold it :( I also had The skyking 2 element quad and after some bad weather lets just say it ended up in pieces. Some of the older people here will remember when I dropped it on my first...
I had a skyking 2 element quad with my I2K mounted above it with no interferance I could tell. I've talked to Dxman on it before some strong winds took care of it :( Now I a have a couple more months before I can get the base back up. It will be with no beam though.
Very good read there Eddie, even if I dont understand all of it. But what your saying is the I2K might perform like a good ground plane with the GP kit for it?
We all know the Dxman is kinda partial to his 2950's and 70's ;) And I might add when I had my setup going I could always hear in my RX. Sounding good as usual
I have had stuff done by RRcom, SS8541, Copper, Bills, EEI, Quackshack, Rolling Radios and 1 Stop Electronics and others I cant remember right now (crs). with the last 2, Frank at 1 Stop and Rolling Radio being are my 2 techs now. I am not saying the other guys are bad. I am just saying that...
Turner +3b is an excellent mic for a base. Good clear audio. I have never used it with your radio but have used it from evreything from a rci 2950dx to a rci 2995dx and a few radios in between.
Peddler,
If that HR 2600 is Doc tuned you already own the best :D I also have the 2950dx, very nice radio. If your in the mood you could get the cobra 200 and give it a try.
