Watch your radio!
I heard it in the night
Words that thoughtless speak
Like vultures swooping down below
On the devil's radio
I hear it through the day
Airwaves gettin' filled
With gossip broadcast to and fro
On the devil's radio
He's in the clubs and bars
And never turns it...
One thing proven to lessen the chance of lightening strikes is the use of grounded metallic objects with sharp points high up on an antenna structure.
Large commercial towers and buildings get hit many times and their communications gear keeps on working. There are ways to keep things from...
If the FCC saw the need to bust mobile "high power" CBers they could do it with one hand tied behind their backs in less than 5 minutes while drinking a cup of coffee.
Luck has nothing to do with anything here.
Extremely dirty CB mobiles have probably done more to keep BPL from being...
Sorry. I was not looking carefully at the pictures!
There is no loading control. It's using fixed loading which is most likely done by that fat little disc ceramic cap in the pix.
Schlock design. It there's too much cap the amp will be underloaded. You could try ever so slightly...
Nice project. One thing is it looks like there is no weatherproofing on the coax. If that's the case expect your SWR to get better and better. Loss in cable works on reflect too.
Maybe you are looking for a tuned input. I don't see one. You don't always have to have one.
Are you familiar with normal tuning procedure for a linear amplifier used on AM?
You are missing nothing except protection in the event of a strike and possibly a tiny amount of strike prevention.
Most hammy ground schemes are much more dangerous than no ground connection at all.
All grounds must be bonded together with a low inductance connection to be effective...
Don't discount voltage doubler supplies for tOOb linear amplifiers.
They have been written off by those who liked the older choke input supplies which were reported to give better regulation.
A choke input supply used in a plate modulated TX with a common connection to the R.F. amp had...
You might want to measure actual heater current on the bench with a warmed up tube before ordering a few ohms.
Otherwise you might consider two stacks of diodes. IIRC 1N4007 or similar. Make 2 strings of 35 or so in series. Hook the ends of the 2 strings up but in opposite polarity. Feed one...
Nice job so far.
What do you have in mind for air?
Got a safety choke?
Hows about a thermistor current limiter on the primary of the fil xfmr?
This might inspire certain others to get their stuff done. I'm one myself in the pile of parts stage.
