KMUF started out with 7 watts, then increased to 15 watts, then 6months later, a whopping 65 watts. During the time we ran low power, our DJ skills were honed - and we sounded pretty professional before we went to high power transmissions.
An electronics engineer from Xerox (a HAM) designed...
I listened in on a conversation this evening regarding Pirate Broadcast Radio Stations. I have a keen interest, as I was part of a Pirate Station back in the early '70s - KMUF, located in Inglewood, CA.
Not to dwell much on the KMUF station, but I can say it was a good time in my life and we...
For years it has been believed that electric bulbs emitted light. However recent information from Bell Labs has proven otherwise. Electric bulbs don't emit light, they suck dark.

I had seen the clip before. Notice how the reporter kept nagging at him instead of just accepting what he had to say. Just more evidence that the media is totally biased and part of the opposition's anti-gun agenda machine.
Where in hell did '42' come from anyway? ... makes NO sense.
I say 'Seventy Fleas', 'Seventy Turds', of if they're any of my old Harley buds, I say 'Seventy Fours'
That's right. It DOES have four on the floor
:tt2:
I just ordered some accessories for the Westy ...
... an 'Add a Room' tent (these things are awesome) ...
... and a rear hatch privacy shelter attachment
I'm in with the Westfalia Campervan.
I can pick one or two other participants up along the way ... just have your tent, sleeping bag and radio gear waiting curb-side ...
The Westy might be a little slow making it up the hill, but it WILL get us there ... and back
Let me know ...

I agree that 8X isn't optimal for UHF but until Mike comes up with a 'real' (permanent) installation, the 8X he already has will do fine.
He isn't going to lose 1/3rd of his signal. One decibel (db) is one tenth of a bel. Power loss of 1 bel (10 db) translates to a perceived loss of 50 percent...
If you're going to use a mobile antenna, fab some ground radials to install at the base of the mount. They need to be 1/4 wave length. You can get by with 3 ground radials placed @ 120 degrees and bent downward about 45 degrees. Radials for 444.500 should be approx 6.6"
Here's a good...
Are you bringing the CR? I'm leaving the 'killer XT-200' at home this trip
I guess if I need to ride a real bike, maybe I can hop on one of Daryl's
We'll see you and GEV later in the day ...

So, here it is, Monday, I get a phone call - my tires are in, and I start up the 405 to Santa Monica. About 1/3 of the way up - BOOM ... front left blew out. Lost one of my new hubcaps and ripped my new mud flap
Luckily I had a spare, but couldn't get the fucking lug bolts out...
My driver's side front tire tread separated today  ... hope the spare is OK - I don't want to buy any 14" replacement tires, especially since I just got an email from the guy with the CLK wheels I want.
They're ready to ship, but I don't think they'll get here in time to have new tires...
Nice install, HDU :thumbup1:
Went to a local bone yard and removed a ladder from a Dodge camper van (cost me $5.00). I had to cut it down and relocate the top mounts to fit the Vanagon's rear hatch. This should make cleaning bird poop off of the solar panels a little easier
While...
Well, looks like my Mercedes CLK wheel deal has gone sour, so I took off the cheezy hub caps (that were on the vanagon when I purchased it), scrubbed the stock 14" steelies real good and painted them.
I was going to leave the hub caps off, but the Mrs said she liked the hubcaps...
I run a Comet CX-333 at home. I recently purchased a Jetstream JTB2B dual band base antenna for my shop. Approx $65. shipped, from GigaParts.
If you can get away with installing a Comet CX-333 and you're not planning on running 220 mHz, why spend the extra money? (the 333 is $208. shipped).
I...
