You might try resetting the radio as per instructions from this page. ICOM America Support - CPU Resets IC-02AT - Serial numbers below 34000: push the button on the main circuit board next to the lithium battery. Serial numbers above 34000: hold [FUNC] button and turn the radio on.

6 meters is open into the northeast US from Ohio. Starting about 7 pm eastern....

I had one also. Was running a Siltronix 1011. Always had a 9 noise level on receive. The light kept turning on by itself. So finally checked to see if the radio was doing it. The light was in another room. Verified it was the radio turning on the lamp. Decided to unplug lamp so it wouldn't keep...

Look all over the web. There is even a yahoo group that converts cb to other bands. Even look on you tube where the one guy has converted some to 20 meters, 40 meters and 80 meters.
