OK - I have used this antenna for over 38 years, (and I'm on my second one). A superb antenna: Hy gain Super Predator 500
an old ad from 1972,
And a picture of the current antenna in the air. The antenna is rated at 5.1dBi, or 3dBd gain. It compares favorably to my 3 el beam. I...
I can't even begin to think of who would want that scrap. I guess some people like to get drunk, and troll ebay.
My kind of customer!!! ;)
That would be my only fear. That he sobers up and realizes what he's bid on.
Worthless scrap, all of it. I wouldn't offer more than $20.00 for all of it. Good for parts units for repair projects.
Why do people think this debris has any value?
I see piles of this crap at local ham fleamarkets. The radios go for from $5.00 each to $10. tops. The scanner is...
The classic Hygain CLR-2 is an excellent antenna. Use it.
Raise it as far above the tree as you can with an extended mast. Move it as far from branches and tree trunks as you can.
Great antenna. Good luck.
The Larsen NMO27 antenna was strictly designed for commercial use in the 27 – 30MHz range. It was never designed for amateur radio use, or for long distance ground wave or DX applications. It was designed to provide a good, robust antenna for commercial mobile applications such as logging...
Ah! You want it for 11M? You'll want it vertical then, so you can work the locals. Random wire? Make it about at least 18 feet long. If it's horizontal, all you'll work is DX. The feeder is important. How will you feed it?
Allows you to switch the tuner in or out of the circuit. The MFJ-945E has this:
This is the tuner I use for all my low power (under 300W) applications.
Installing an aftermarket "tune-bypass" switch might be problematic. Use one of these: MFJ-1705H Bypass Swich
I am quite familiar with both. I own several Wouxun radios - two dual band KG-UVD1P, and a KG-816 single-band (VHF). Many of my friends have various KG-UVD2P and KG-UVD3P radios and all are pleased with them. None of mine have given me any problems, are reliable, and all work as intended...
That Maco 91 is a typical CB matchbox. Not enough range.
These two are quite decent small tuners:
and
And they both have bypass switches (important). I own both and use them for mobile use.
All MFJ tuners are hit-and-miss. Depends on what day they were made; (don't buy a tuner made on a Monday). Most are over-rated on power handling. Their power ratings are all marginal, so don't run their "300W" tuners at 300W, they will arc. They are all rated for lower duty cycle...
It's been very slack for the last 10 days - 2 weeks due to solar flares and general sun indigestion. Should come back soon. Spotty to the the U.S. and Europe. Some days better than others.
