Sensitivity issues when using both VFO's, severe intermod when using both VFO's on same band (due to internally generated spurs). Ottawa is a major urban area with lot's of commercial systems, which produces much intermod on these radios.
Though not Yaesu's fault, some users...
An SSB signal contains multiple frequency tones all of which power is divided among all the frequencies. To see a proper PEP peak, simply whistle into the mic, or provide a single-tone signal.
Yes, the Maco, Workman (same antenna) and the Hygain are all highly efficient but much more narrow bandwidth than the Imax. This is well known. My Hygain is virtually flat at 28.800 MHZ, but exhibits a 4.5:1 VSWR on 11M. I use a tuner there. I've also used it on 12M, with the tuner.
For legal reasons, (aluminum antennas may not be marketed to CB'ers) they only specify 10 and 12M. These antennas are based on the original 11M Penetrators, and are virtually identical to the originals. The radials are tubular sectional and can be any length.
There are known issues with the...
Nice station! :thumbup1: However, Ditch the Imax 2000. Really. Trust me.
Get the MacoV58/WorkmanW58, or even better, the Hy gain SPT-500 Super Perpetrator. Unless you're a ham, it'll cover all the frequencies you intend to operate on. If you get your Tech ticket, you'll need...
(Crossing fingers) OK. Continuous tuning, like the Optima. Minimum 100 Hz increments. Repeater splits/offsets. 24. - 30 MHz. Please? Pretty please? Huh, huh? Ple-e-e-ase???? (We need a praying emoticon! )
(From the look of the front panel, I'm assuming menus?)
The use of a spectrum analyzer is mandatory in cases like this. We used to use a small tuner into the dummy load to create false reactive loads. We also used a standard antenna for whatever frequency the radio was designed for. We had VHF radios that would go spurious at the drop of a...
Exactly. Sounds like something in the final stage is taking off. With a dummy load you have both a pure 50 ohm load and zero reactance. Any reactive component in an antenna can induce a spurious emmision from the finals. Tuning is critical in this case, and you don't want the final coils...
Absolutely correct, and who knows what the source of that sound was? Sounded like some Chinese VHF comms. I first saw that video about a week ago, and dismissed it as worthless.
Is this the info you have? They are talking about a separate CPU board.

Is there a reset button anywhere?
Alinco is now marketing an Alinco badged version of the CRE-8900.
Russian market only.
Alinco DR-135CB
I had read on "Simon-the-Wizard"'s FB page that Qixiang factory was making Alincos under contract. This must be it.
Yup. D104M6's are notorious for RF feedback. The ferrite choke usually stops that. The Night Eagle and other desk D104's are made of steel and are shielded.
Careful antenna placement and mounting is crucial here.
