Hey guys,
I'm attempting to do a swing mod for my 29. 2 questions; for variable power they say you need 2 wires to run to the rf gain knob. What type/gauge wire should I use? Also, would a 30watt solding iron be sufficient?
Thanks
The longest fiberglass antenna I've seen is the Firestick KW-7. Not sure if it is top loaded though... It can't handle a lot of power either. I think the Wilson fgt 5 foot can handle more power.
If you can go 7 feet, I would vote for a 102 ss whip.
Good luck
I have used a k30 and a little wil. Performance is about the same. I will say the lil wil has lasted longer. The coax came loose from the magnet on the k30. Both are worth the 20-30 bucks. They have their place, don't expect 102 wip results.
Now you got me thinking... A Galaxy 979 starlight faceplate and a TNT 2 pill. Can never have to many radio's!! Comes out to 390 not including shipping. Haha... this is going to take some CAREFUL thinking.
Never had a ssb radio, might be time for one.
I have a Crown Vic police package, it has...
With the swing mod or without? Also, when I was looking at the Texas Star the website said a crystal had to be installed to determine the frequency. Where would you get one and how hard is it to install.
Thanks again
Unfortunately, I have a Cobra 29 LX... I wish I could just turn a pot! One thing I'm worried about is in the article on cbradiomag he said;
"Do not do this modification if you are someone who wants clean, clear modulation. Doing this modification to your radio may cause your radio to have...
What would I need? Soldering iron and a swing kit off of eBay? I don't have that much experience with soldering... that's why I was looking at other options.
Hey guys,
Just a quick question... Can't find a clear answer on the internet. Can you run a radio doing 5w dead key swinging to 20w into a X-force TNT 2 pill? If not that amp, which one could possibly? I know its better to have a lower dead key, but I cant do the mod right now.
Thanks
Does anybody know if Everhardt antennas are top loaded or helical wound? Can't find their website or any info on this... Also, what are your opinions on the Everhardt SOTT vs Wilson FGT?
Thanks
