Replaced that 4.7k ohm resistor back to a 4.7 ohm. Checked for 27mhz at base of driver and final, present on both and holding steady at 27mhz, but, but the 4.7 ohm resistor immediately started smoking and cooked. Still nothing on meter though.

Oh, I see why the circuit still shows as a short with C182 removed. That cap goes to two coils inside two different IFT's. The other end of those coils go to circuit board ground.

Well... Removed R220, tested in tester shows 465 ohms (same as in circuit). Double checked with two ohm meters, bout the same value of 46? ohms. Replaced it: Then the emitter of the pre-driver went up to 2.21v, base and collector remain unchanged. Still no output, still no voltage on the base...

No bias diodes or bias trim pots in a 55v. Has a 22uh inductor in each trim pot location for driver and final. Got another 55v from the same guy for a parts radio. It hasn't had any parts removed yet so I figured I would see if I could get it going instead of the no xmit 55v. Well this parts...

Well, decided to switch it over to the D7 instead of D9 (since it's a 3600 board) and wow what a difference. It didn't bring the noise floor up but it sure did bring the signals up a lot. I just detuned the receive a little to compensate for the dramatic increase. Now the receive seems right.

It's called the D9 mod is all I know. It seemed to work on this old SSB Echo. Remove banded end of D9. Solder one lead of a 1.5k ohm resistor into the now empty D9 hole. Solder the other lead of above resistor to the free lead of D9.

Update: Replaced both modulation VR's (checked them out of circuit also, both blown out). Resoldered R249 back together. Modulation set now. Shorted out TP3 and removed jumpers from TP to set bias properly. Driver - 50ma Finals - 50ma each (100ma total) World of difference. No power drop...

Hmmm, sneaky people, lol... Just found a diode (1N4001) tucked under some wires and parts in the Passthrough area. This diode tied into the R238 circuit but closer to the Passthrough regulator, hid pretty good. Removed that diode, tested it out, so far so good. I've never mixed any swing mods...
