I had that radio when I was a teenager in the 1970's. Spent many nights talking to by buddies on Channel 22. CB radio was the Facebook equivalent of our time.
My dad was a ham and he let me put an antenna on his tower. First was a Super Scanner (3 phased dipoles). Not much directivity...
I worked FT4GL this morning. It is a POTA station. TF-0008 Glorioso Archipelago National Nature Reserve. it is also #301 DXCC for me.
I appreciate his POTA activation.

Attached is a list of the DXCC that I'm missing. The current DXCC list of all entities is 340, so I have 40 more to work and confirm. A total of 331 is needed for Honor Roll and 340 for #1 Honor Roll. I was licensed in 2008 and didn't have an HF station capable of working DX untilI 2010...
From ARRL Atlantic Division Director Bob Famiglio, K3RF.
Pennsylvania hams just scored a BIG win in getting mobile ham radio exempted from their new handsfree law:
A52CI, Bhutan, confirmed to bring my total DXCC to 300. I was stuck at 290 for almost two years. Solar cycle 25 was a big help
Need 331 for Honor Roll. Doubt I’ll make that before I die. I’ll probably be around for Solar Cycle 26 but I doubt I’ll make 27.
Also,
That is a nice radio and fair price for the radio if it is good condition and you don't need a tuner.
If you are looking to buy your first Ham radio I suggest you don't buy that one. There are better used radios in the $500-$600 range. A used Kenwood TS-590s is a modern radio that is still...
XU7GNY is on the air. I was able to work him FT8 on 30m and 17m.
There was controversy about whether this activation was legal in Cambodia but has now been approved for DXCC by the ARRL. See below
"The political/regulatory climate in Cambodia has changed, and despite a pause in early 2023...
They are packing up today. I made 4 QSOs with them but the 12m CW contact was the only one that helped my goal of WAZ on all bands, CW and FT8.
(I have the Log Book of the World confirmations already by using OQRS)
Here is a link to the stats of their log...
I worked them on 80m ,FT8, at the end the east coast grey line this morning. I need them on 80m CW.
They were working Asia and EU on 20, 17, and 10 all night.
You can find their log stats at this link.
https://clublog.org/charts/?c=H40WA#r
As of this morning they have only made 191 Qs on...
Couldn't resist. Worked them on 20m CW too. The Ops are fantastic. The pile up is behaving. The usual problem of people not either understanding what "Up" means or they think are have their radio set for split but don't (happens to me sometimes).
I'm working nights so set my alarm to get up and check their live stream. Got them on 12m CW.
Worked them at 20:18 UTC. That is the beginning of peak propagation according to the VOACAP prediction I calculated a few days ago (see my 1st post)
Now I need them on 12m FT8 and 80m CW.
Well....Don't need the zone on 30m but didn't have Temotu on 30m so I worked them.:p They are currently running 5 streams of F/H. That means they are having 5 QSOs at the same time. Pretty neat.
The log is live so I was able to confirm that I'm in the log about a minute after the QSO.
If...
They are on the air with 3 stations so far. Still daylight there at the time of this writing (~06:00 UTC). Not going to bother even trying to work them for a few days.
The H40WA DXpedition plans are to be on the air from February 22 to March 7. Temotu is a province in the Solomon Islands (point your antenna toward Australia, 280 degrees for me). Temotu is #42 on ClubLog's most wanted list.
They will be using two 5 band Hex Beams and several VDA (vertical...
If the PW2 improves on the PW1 it will be a great amp. The PW1 can run 1 KW all day long. My buddy W3MJ (sk) and I operated a the 2017 CQ WPX RTTY contest as a multi single with a PW1 and a Kenwood 990. 1,600 QSOs, 38 hours, at 1 KW.
Yes the fan is very loud. That is why it has a detachable...
