I remember working on a Telestat that used the Cybernet VCO section that had that crappy epoxy encased part. The symptoms the OP mentioned reminded me of that exact problem the Telestat had.Razor radio made a replacement part for that epoxy encased part

If you watch the scope closely with the different carrier/NPC schemes, you can see where the action is. The MD-1 will vary the carrier at an audio rate similar to the regular NPC “galaxy” mod. Looked at the 5555 schematic and compared to my Lincoln 2 . Also compared a blurry copy of the 6666, they are all the same. I modded my Lincoln 2 hifi front to back TX and RX. Left a copy over at GF site of my mods but I missed the portion between the front jack and the first mic preamp.

MMM hifireceive mod is fine, the other TX mods works also. I normally do audio widening on all my radios.

Just made couple to see how it worked in a mobile radio, 10 band eq, SP1A, peak limiter and echo. All bypassed by jumpers but UR6QW EQ is straight off the datasheets, his echo is also straight off some datasheets. Waiting on some parts to assemble.
