    TVI QUESTION

Installing a TVI filter never hurts. The high pass filters are available for the TV, but not sure if it was your TV or a neighbors TV. Typically purchasing a low pass for the radio is the first step as buying high pass filters can be expensive for more than one TV. In some cases grounding can...

    Technician Class study material.

I recommend a book called "Now You're Talking!: All You Need to Get Your First Ham Radio License". 4th edition. It could be at your local library, but I recommend this on your bookshelf for a study guide and a reference book.

    pdc 1089 low pass filter

I would place it at the ouput of the radio, using a short piece of coax or a right-angle connector. Some have used a second one near the antenna. As with any device you will have insertion loss, but the 1089 has a low insertion loss at 27MHz. This unit is bilateral meaning you cannot hook it up...

OMG !!!!! how hard is it to read a meter ?

The RS power meter scaling “L” (low) hash mark is for the readings under 20 watts (20 watt scale). The power meter scaling “H” hash mark is for the readings over 20 watts (200/2000 watt scale). The manual gives an accuracy reading of +/- 10% per each scale. It does not indicate if this is full...

Since nobody believes a 148/grant will do 25+ watts...

28 watts can be possible with a 2SC1969 according to the data sheet. However, in AM how does the audio portion (waveform) have room to breath (sinusoidal peaks) without clipping once it goes above the 28 watts, unless going into AB (push-pull) operation with 2 finals? Cornfused...?

Since nobody believes a 148/grant will do 25+ watts...

I agree, It would be nice to see before and after snapshots. Selectivity and image rejection would play a significant role on the (other) CB’s. This of course varies by mfg, but we also have to account for the narrow bandwidth separation of (CB) 11 meters. (0.44MHz) 11meter band is used...

Since nobody believes a 148/grant will do 25+ watts...

Its only CB guys, not rocket science or NVLAP accredited sanctions here (that was last month here at the shop). The Bird wattmeter is fine for lay measurements. If you are really that concerned about your power measurements send it off to an accredited lab with NIST traceability. :) :wink...

None of it means squat if you do not have the NIST (MIL-STD-45662A, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 or equivalent) paperwork. Sorry, but if we are slicing hairs we need some standards here. As You Were

    Induction coil/frequency?

I would verify this against a known (accurate) frequency counter or test against a known (on Freq) CB on the bench. Maybe it is off frequency, maybe it is not. I have come across some cases where improper or faulty wired microphones had the same effect.
