    Kenwood TS-830

Reminds me of the Hollywood last minute--save your hide--cut the red--or--purple wire or she blows scenario. Go ahead and cut the wire, you can always solder it together.

    CB's in cars?

Dont use the splitter, they are no good. I would go with the metal/aluminum bracket that can attach to the frame/under the bumper. I used one of these on my car (using a Wilson Silver Load) and had great results. The bracket I used was a flat/narrow piece of Aluminum (Valor) that has the...

    cobra 19 DX IV

I have heard of folks adding the 2SC1969 final. I just picked up a Cobra 19 Ultra III at the local Wal-Mart. I don't expect great results but it gets me on the air when I don't want to lug around the ICOM 706 (mobile/rovering).

    noise chopper or noise clipper

Basically it was a signal reducer similar to the old RF Attenuation button. It was a gimmick but Valor sold quite a few of these things when I worked for them.

    Bleedsticks

From what I have gathered some of the TVI was due to faulty construction (bad solder joints, poor internal assembly). The IMAX 2000 seems to be much better on the internal construction and soldering. I used to have both the A99 and the IMAX 2000 articles on my website. I will have to check to...

    FT 60R HT

I have one. Excellent radio. The rubber duck antenna doesn't receive all that well compared to other dual band HT's I have owned. Of course its more of a broad band antenna. Battery life is very good, and so is the RX/TX audio, sounds like a mobile rig. Fairly easy mod for MARS, MURS, FRS, etc.

What type of car is this? Some of the Ford vehicles are noted for such problems. I agree so far with the replies.

    Super Slinky Antennas

Has anyone tried the super slinky antenna? If so what were the results? I have recently sold my Alpha Delta DXCC dipole. Currently, I am using an A-99 for 10-20 meters. I am thinking of purchasing the brass or green slinky. My second option is the Yo-Yo Dipole. http://kbzeroxa.com/ Thanks

    Digital Software-which do you use?

Anyone here use Ham Radio Deluxe? I just picked up an ICOM 706 and may try out this program.

    cleaner..pots/board

I use the CRC brand. Ace Hardware carries either the CRC or LPS contact cleaner, usually runs about $12 for an 11oz can. I think the Rat Shack is a smaller can for around $10. Either will work fine.
