    CB antenna vs Ham

2,6,1.25,70CM yes... I guess it depends on the wavelength you are looking for. I do have a chart for converting the decimal to inches BTW on my website. I think the CB'ers may be shuddering that thought tho.

    backward swing on watt meter

Bird 43P is a good accurate lab standard. The Bird 43 is a great AVG reading meter. I recommend having them calibrated yearly to maintain the IEEE/ANSI IEC 60051-1/3 standards. I can't vouch for Rolling Radios so I won't comment either way. Best thing to look for when hiring a tech is to...

    Some History of Dosy Wattmeters

I remember a few years (decade) ago we compared the Dosy/Black Cat to the PDC on our test bench. I liked the Dosy meter but I wasn't allowed to comment as such due to the conflict of interest. I would like to find another Dosy one of these days. I find their website doesn't offer much on...

Does coax length really matter when tuning?

If you are only operating one band I can see cutting to a certain length I presume. If you operate HF 1.8-29MHZ that wave-length tends to be long for 160 meters... I always used the shortest length and its always worked for me. I don't run any amps other than my guitar and bass...

    CB antenna vs Ham

In my case it was a donated 102" whip and I hardly ever talk on CB anymore so I figured why let an antenna go to waste? I don't pay attention to what my fellow hams say about CB -- I am over it. The fact is they are just jealous I worked for Para Dynamics/Vectronics, and Palstar as a Tech...

Nope... However you can make (cut) a 3/4 wave from a 102" SS whip.

    TS-180S

Just sold my TS-180 a few months ago. There was a kit for the WARC but its now extremely hard to find. To my knowledge no other freq mods are available for this rig.

    backward swing on watt meter

In a nutshell it's due to the meter (circuit) construction. If you have a passive AVG/PK reading meter it will be reading what we call quasi-peak. Sometimes this backwards swing can be caused by the components used, circuit design, sensitivity of the movement, or diode selection and or all the...

How many hams on the Worldwide Radio Forum?

Ham since 1995 General Class working on Extra later this year. I haven't used echolink for about a year now. As soon as I finish my repeater I am thinking of an echolink setup again.

SWR TALKING METERS ?? WHAT ARE THEY ?? WHO MAKES THEM ??

LDG makes nice equipment. This model is very useful for the blind hams and CB'ers. It could also be nice for road use when traveling.

Astatic Meters... How good are they??

The PDC meters were bought out by Astatic. I also worked for Palstar... The WM150 is the better of the two hands down and about the same amount of green. :D
