I hear that he thinks he's gonna beat the Feds. REALLY????? HE says that he and all the other dealers that sell 10 Meter radios are LEGAL! He's in for a surprise. WHY does he think that Pilot Travel Centers HAS ALREADY SETTLED A NOTICE OF APPARENT LIABILITY IN THE AMOUNT OF...
The question was posed simply for discussion. We all know that many CB operators are constantly asking about more power, more power, more power. The assumption seems to be that this is the DO-ALL, BE-ALL for radio and is the ONLY way for a station to be adequately heard---which is NOT true...
Bigger is better when it comes to amplifiers, right----at least in the CB world. So let's discuss this just for kicks.
We know that hams may legally use up to 1500 watts on most amateur bands. SO. IS it OK to run 1500 watts all the time? Some hams do this.
SHOULD he---even when it is OK? If...
(They keep telling me FCC ain't got time to mess with CBers)

Audio,
I really find it amazing how so many of the dealers have already been warned---even FINED-----their websites are STILL up, they are STILL selling so-called "10 Meter" radios and amplifiers, they are STILL declaring that these radios are legal to market despite they held a document in...
HOW is it "incorrect"? Converting a CB radio to work on any HF band for which the operator has license or authorization is perfectly LEGAL. Many CB radios have been converted to operate on 10 Meters and articles in QST provided diagrams on how to do it. Nothing "illegal" about it.
As to...

Wanna know WHY? Because it is these people who facilitate the THEFT of radio spectrum from legitimate, LICENSED users! They DESERVE to get popped and MORE! If they'd just at least TELL their...
It actually amazes me that somebody gets a WARNING NOTICE or Citation and declares (according to HIS interpretation) that so-called "10 Meter" radios that LOOK like a CB, have channels like a CB, are marketed in CB shops TO CBers are legal to sell: He will CONTINUE to sell them! I...
So have you not considered that Mr Hollingsworth is ALSO an attorney with at LEAST 20 years of communications law under his belt? VERY few people EVER managed to "put FCC in their place" since 1934! Just another blowhard with visions of "legendary" status dancing in his own mind.

Boy-a! You're hurtin' my back just TALKING about that thing!:drool: I helped get a Collins 20V out of a broadcast station last spring, and I hope to NEVER scuffle with something like that ever again!!!!! It is STILL sitting in the back of a pickup truck (in a garage) in...
I THINK ( a dangerous endeavor), you could do it this way. Since YOU are at HIS house, he would identify as (using ficticious calls as an example--I don't mean to use someone else's---) N5XXX/W5ETR which indicates (in case someone looks it up) that the FIRST station (tech) is operating the...
A friend of mine and I had the most trouble with corona on 160 Meters, also running 500+ watts.
I sold a screwdriver to a fella in an adjacent state. He was using it as a base station and used a chain link fence for a counterpoise/ground. He emailed me how well it was doing.
However, just...
Some people both in and outside of amateur radio argue that emergency communications can be handled dependable and effectively via email, fax and cellphones. The below article from ARNewsLine explains why it is foolish to depend on fixed plant for communications needs in disasters or...
I was driving back from the daughter's last Saturday afternoon when a flatbed semi passed me and I had to laugh out loud. He had two of those center-loaded antennas that look like an upside down teardrop mounted on top of the truck------about
4 feet apart! :P If he'd known how hard I was...
That's "cheap"! :D I've seen 'em as high as $400 for a Golden Eagle! :P Not that *I* think they are worth that much! I've got one that was GIVEN to me years ago!
