    i did it and all works fine. But you don't have to remove LCD. You remove the speaker. LCD stays in place. I just clipped and removed with some very small clippers from my wifes mamicure kit. I tested it by selecting the frequencies on my scanner and transmitting. thanks,jim oh,it has...

    TH-D72a Thanks, I got the same suggestion to use a speaker mic from kenwood. The volume levels are fine. I was just thinking a speaker with a stronger magnet may help. Jim KF7RIN

    can you get a better speaker for this handheld? I am sure it is operating properly but I have to run it at 3/4 volume. Just checking to see if any aftermarket's are available. I really don't want to use one on the speaker jack. Jim kf7rin
