ok well i am going to ask the question did you go thru the amp to be sure there wasn't something else going on ??? i am not that great at amps i am trying but to me there is a cause for every failure and you might be rite just low quality parts but did you check everything else out first ??

alot of people dont know some of the capabilities that some radios have this is my 3rd version of the 77-285 i also have a 77-285EX which looks just like the 77-285 but it has fm and factory hi/lo power i am really impressed with this 77-285 A now just to figure out some power mods for it

I really am impressed with some of the midlands this new one the 77-285A has 6 bands and freq. counter all in such a small radio it truly is an smt nightmare but as it works i am impressed here are a few pics.... .
hey everyone i have a messenger 500 i just got the other day it is impressive but once i took the cover off i noticed burnt resistors on l/m/h power board does anyone know the value of these resistors ?? i am thinking 1 to 2 watt but don't know the ohms???
just an update it was tr 36 i ordered parts back when i posted last and finally got thru the holdidays and had some time tr 36 i changed and my nightmare radio is working thanks so much everyone that posted and especially Unit 75 you guys are the greatest!!!!
just to add to Dmans post i also have the same mic and the pot was gone i would definately replace that these are old mic's and dust and sitting for years without use takes a toll
the radio is looking good with the blue i always liked the yellow leds but thinking back you have the old version which has 3 boards in the front with the long pins i think i would first take them apart and look for burnt traces if that all looks good there is a 5 volt regulator up towards the...
