I have always used 12' or 24' lengths of 66% VF coax because at 12' it is a non-resonant 1/3 wavelength which helps make it unattractive for RF feedback due to CMC, plus at 66% VF, 12' is ½λ so the phase angle at the antenna (180°) nicely mirrors that of the RF as it leaves the transmitter.

Marconi, how's the new 3' higher altivation? Any noticeable improvement? Homer, I bet Shockwave should have the cap value and I measured about 11' 2" from center up/down, and ~24" of shorted coax stub at the feed point. Not sure which coax their using for the stub.

Marconi, do you know your elevation, and especially with regard to other stations who's readings your recording? I'm wondering if a flat TOA antenna is perhaps wrong for your location.

Hi Homer, Odd it goes so high with only 50w. You have your swr meter after the amp, correct? Maybe try a 3' - 10' patch cord in line between the coax from the AP and the meter to see if you've happened upon an unfriendly length of coax for that specifically fed antenna design. I'm wondering...

I would expect that to have issues with upsetting the balance of the balanced design, causing a higher TOA than expected. In such an installation I would probably prefer the Imax. I've found the SGM to need it's own free space in order to reap the maximum rewards of it's design. Mine...
