    How to: push-up masts

Thanks for the Puppy pic's. Gotta luv it. There is no radio club in this town. There is no other CB'er in this town of 700 people. Advantage: I never have bleedover. The exception to that is some of the stations on the east coast, over a thousand miles away. Can you believe 5 channels either...

    How to: push-up masts

Prolly be steel, if I get one. Maximum antenna weight is a Sigma 5/8 Venom, plus LMR400 coax. 5 or 10 pounds??? ( I don't know if I'm strong enough to push/pull that much weight + pole) I'd be about 7 or 8 feet off the ground, standing on the deck. I guess I would be pulling up. Maybe. I...

    How to: push-up masts

This may seem simple and a no brainer. How the heck do they work? Do you stand the base, and then push up the rest? For the hundreds of you who put them up and down all the time, gimme some help here. Inquiring minds want to know...... Thanks, John.

    How to: push-up masts

For my second post, I'm gonna ask a question that I don't know the answer to. I've only owned one pushup mast in my life. 50 years ago we stretched it out and locked it down, then tilted the antenna up. Is there another way??? Now I'm alone, so if there is an easier way I'd like to find out...

    5/8 wave starduster?

I know..... I read that post.

    5/8 wave starduster?

Hey, the original question has been answered. (waste of time unless I'm bored) I'm still gonna put one up, at about 10ft, just to see what it does. I'll get the old antenna down when it warms up (snowed yesterday), and I can get some help. That will be younger people, when not at work. Older...

    5/8 wave starduster?

Just read your last line... I'm old, weak, and can't climb a ladder. 30ft is higher than I can reach or wrestle and takes it out of the wind shadow. An A-99, from what I've read ( on this site) gets a lot of wind static. It is windy here, I would guess, about 200 days year, and breezy another...

    5/8 wave starduster?

Anyway, Back to the original question: can a 5/8 wave Starduster be built (and is there any advantage,)

    5/8 wave starduster?

Currently the roof is between radials. Another reason to move the antennas.

    5/8 wave starduster?

Well, I didn't explain that very well. the radials need to be lower than "the shear point" of the shadow. And, to add insult to injury, the house has a metal roof. And you can add to that the Doctors told me not to climb ladders. Thanks, John.

    5/8 wave starduster?

Mike, Trading length for strength. I want to keep the antenna in the wind "shadow" of the house. Anything higher than the top of the roof will get the cr** beat out of it. I can fudge that a little, but, not much. The radials have to be lower than than the shadow, and the vertical should be as...

    5/8 wave starduster?

Jeff, Don't bother. I have prolly already read it. I really have looked at all 218 pages in this section of the forum. Thanks, John.

    5/8 wave starduster?

Please don't get off topic. I'm not asking for an antenna recommendation. Thanks,John.

    5/8 wave starduster?

Yes, I know that.... But, Can it be built? Starduster has 1/4 wave radials, and the radiator is also a 1/4 wave. the radials are at about 20*. With the "coupling" angle of the ground plane, I'm just wondering if it's possible? Has anyone done or tried it? Marconi has his "marconi-6". I don't...

    5/8 wave starduster?

1st post here, so, yeah, I'm the FNG. I'm old. I'm a cancer patient. I'm not strong, and I live in a high wind area, Wyoming@ 7000ft. I've been out of CBing for 30 years. I'm getting back in to it 'cause it's something I can do while sitting (mostly). So, my temporary antenna from then I think...
