Following is from my D710 manual.
"S-meter Squelch causes the squelch to open only when a signal with the same or greater strength than the S- meter setting is received. This function relieves you from constantly resetting the squelch when receiving weak stations that you have no interest...
Only reference on a quick search was PS12KX a 10amp steady, 12 amp surge supply which appears to be new product.
If your '12con' is an earlier production model I would expect something similar to today's production. Surge current would require knowing the test setup/configuration and a fast...
Electrically with the tuner shown any impact of the knot is offset. Does the knot work as well with insulated 24Ga wire as well as mono-filament I believe is a more relevant question. I would just loop the wire thru the end in the swivel and secure it with a tie-wrap only because I have a access...
Try using the manual mode while playing. Watch the list of received beacons and see if your call-sign is repeated. As I recall the manual trigger (button) will work while watching the list of received beacons.
I agree that the Green Light Labs is a good choice. Before that I used my Garmin GPS60C. While it worked good for driving the 710. The waypoint sentence used for non G5 GPS display of waypoints does not work well. After about 15-20 minutes there will be 200 waypoint on the display. No tracking...
I can't say one way or the other if the sequence is correct.
Check page 114 of the manual on DTFM tones.
IF PTT is pressed then the key pad becomes your tone select like the pad on your telephone for dialing a number. The # key is the V/M key. Not really a mode you enter or exit more like...
Follow-up
I don't wait until the radio died.
After a few hours the displayed voltage had dropped a few tens of a volt. The green LED was still ON. I removed the radio from the charger stand, waited about 10-15 seconds and reinserted the radio. Red led turned ON and after 30 minutes it was...
vvt,
I tried to post earlier, but the database crashed and I lost my post.
So...
I will try your setup and see what happens. It has been about an hour since I started. With radio ON I put it on the charger and it went into red light ON charge mode. AC wall wart, charger base and radio...
vvt,
Not questioning that you are having a problem, but your issue with the charger is the only one I have heard of.
In the following quote I am not sure of your configuration. Could you explain the complete connectivity from radio to power supply during the failing condition and after you...
Yes and No
Item 1 - Standard fair for 500 ma chargers. Swap out the AC for cigaret lighter charger or DC power supply with more amps.
Item 2 - Not sure that makes sense assuming charger is connected to power. Usually my 8 is off when I put it in the charger so I really never noticed...
I can't say that this is what you are hearing, but find the Receive Save mode. If it ON more of the radio is put to sleep and i think the audio out stage is one. When it wakes up it pops.
If the TNC modem is ON and you are not using APRS turn it off, that will help some. Turn of the screen...
sweet......
Nothing sweeter than finding that radio you always wanted.
Then discovering it has this 'teeny tinny' little problem.
Then making it all better.
Nice trouble-shooting!
