I live in Chambersburg PA and have been trying to make contact with a reapeter in Winchester VA, which is only 70 miles give or take using my vx8. I homebrewed a j-pole using twinlead and rg58 with a swr of 1.3. ive had my ticket since november and never even heard the repeater until last...
IVE FIGURED it out. with the vx8r all you have to do to enter the node numbers in is. press and hold the ptt button on a repeater freq that has echolink, while holding ptt dial the node numbers, they register as dtmf tones. its pretty cool. ic 7600 comming soon, upgrade date is april 11
i have just set up my account and all the fun jazz, i dont have an interface between the radio and computer nor a mic for the computer. cant i just type node numbers from my vx8r like dialing out on a telephone? how are hams doing this from mobile stations? how do i do it from my vx8r?
