I'll throw in my 2¢, favorite vintage base would have to be my TRC457 paired up with a Turner +2 SSB, and for the mobile, my they-can-pry-my-HR2510-from-my-cold-dead-fingers HR2510 with an Astatic 575M6.

He's a friend and doesn't charge me for bench time. If he doesn't have to open the radio, it' mostly free. I'm a Mac (apple) guy and he's a PC guy, and I can trouble shoot most of his PC woes, so he throws me a bone once and while.

Thanks for the info. My last flea market find was a near perfect Madison for $20 :tt1: Seller said, "Oh yeah, it works......." NOT {Cry_river} TX ok, but no RX, was a bad cap, so a few $$ and ¢¢ later, I have a nice 8719 Madison (no speaker) for way less than what the flea-bay hacks are trying...
I was running it today in the mobile with a K40 and couldn't quite make it through the DX pile-ups, if my meter is correct, I was only seeing 10-12 watts on ssb, like I said, I just got it (week or so or less ago) and need to get it looked at. I did contact a local and he said it was sounding...
Anyone run an AX144/AR144 40ch AM SSB radio? I picked up one pretty cheap and seems to do OK. Great receive and has good NB/ANL. BUT there's some rust internally on the chassis (not the PCB thankfully) and the vol/sql pot has broken off due to rust and the speaker sounds blown. Would it be worth...
Throwing in my 2¢
I've been spoiled by my 2510, had it for close to 20+ years now and has not failed me once. Do wish it had a few more watts, but 25w has done me fine for quite some time. I run it with a Wilson 1000 and either a D104M6B or the king of mics, a 575M6, and always get good audio...
Drool....
I just read all of the some 27+ pages of replies of this thread and really really want a MK2 now . I run an HR2510 both in the mobile and the base and was wondering how the MK2 and the 2510 compare. The MK2 would be installed in my SUV most likely. I love the small size of the...
I'll throw my 2¢ in
What about flashlights? Or scanners? I have collections of each, various handheld scanners, mobiles, desk-tops, and dozens of flashlights, from big Maglites to all flavors of LEDs, and from vintage to new.
In my case, I was part of a SSB club that met on chXX, I forgot which one, every wednesday night or so. I joined 15 years ago, and they "assigned" me my numbers, I used to go by the whole sign "6∆xxx", but now only use the 3 digit number when I am shooting DX on ssb. 73's and welcome to a fun...
Hello
I came across this on fleabay SWR Meter and see that you can do basic SWR readings (no power) and has 2 PL259s for 2 antennas and one for the radio with a switch. I was wondering if it could be used in reverse, 2 radios and 1 antenna. Would running it backwards damage the swr circuit...
Ditto in the extra memories on the 75-820 :w00t:
I know that newer versions of the 75-822 do not have the 120ch export mod, but they might have the hidden memories too, anyone try it out on their 822?
Anyone know if the e-chip is sold separately on line? I found a used 2950dx locally, but the owner lost all the original accessories that came with the radio, only has mic and transceiver, and it hasn't been converted. Does the e-chip have to stay in the radio? or is it only used for conversion...
Just did my 75-820 for 40H and 40L beyond the normal 40. Just a few notes though:
The solder pads listed on Bill's 2 Way page are NOT marked on the PCB as A B C D. Mine was completely blank and I relied on other information on the web, This link.
One word of caution, I did this mod on a...
ebay hit or miss
I had luck finding OEM NEC pll's on ebay, I grabbed an NEC 2816 for $6 w/free s&h, but that was a couple of years ago. I know a tech in my town that has a shop, I can ask him if he has one or 2 that he might sell to you. I'll shoot him an e-mail monday when his shop is open and...
Thanks for the reply!
I have one in good condition in the mail to me......I hope....impluse fleabay buy....where I live, I get lots of intermod and RFI from a local hospital's VHF-hi paging systems on my curreny HH scanner and hope to eliminate that with a programable CTCSS/DSC capable...
Has anyone used or heard anything good or bad about the HS 200RE hand held scanner? It's a 200 ch scanner that is geared to the NASCAR race-fan group of people. I think it was custom made for a web-seller that catered to the race fans. It is based on a variation on this Strong Signals - RELM...
What makes a M+3 "special?" I've never heard of a M+3 Special, only the usual versions of that mic. And nothing noted on this page about a "special" version of an M+3. Any tips out there?
73s, Thanks
