Hey there, do you have one of those SA-2s? I have a 75-820/22 and need to replace the stock r-ducky. 2 or so feet should do better than the stock 10 or so inches. The stock r-ducky BNC pin has broken off inside the BNC mount:
I've looked on ebay and found this: 27mhz wipe but it's...
Back east to where? Dave @ DTB in PA? I'm looking to buy a used 2950DX with the 11 Meter chip installed, but want the tune/RX improvement as well, any tips would be :D
Hello all! I am in the market for a new RCI 2950dx or 2970n2. I am leaning towards the 2950dx since I don't need all those watts from a N2, and the 2950dx is more wallet friendly, so if anyone has a shop on-line they can recommend, I'd appreciate the input. I am also considering buying a DX979...
I should have waited, about a year ago, I bought one(A fujistsu 8719, not the handbag) from a seller in England and at the time, the only one listed on fleabay, paid over $30 for it, now I could buy one for 1/2 that, oh well.
I've got several Astatic mics that take 9volt batteries and wondering if anyone else has used lithium 9v batteries in their mics.
I've got an ultralife in my D104M6 and seems to be working well, an alkaline 9v in my 575M6 that's about a year old, but will be replacing it with another...
I've got a TRC 457 that's got some AC hum while RX'ing. Is this a symptom of failing caps in the AC/DC stage of the transformer? What I've noticed is that when I am bench testing a mobile radio in my shack (12VDC on a regulated PS) on my base antenna and no antenna on the 457 and RF gain turned...
Here's the close up of what I did to revive my rather old 1000 Mag mount.
Spare K40 magnet with good foil to base of magnet, crimp terminal for new ground from coax.

+1 on the threadlocker on the meter tension screw, my tech heated up the screw for 5 sec or so and was able to free up a 30+ year needle for me on a president S/RF meter.
same issue with mine. I pulled all the cable connectors to the board that has the LCD display and re-seated them. solved my problem. hope this helped.

Good to hear a company stands behind their products. I now have less fear of buying a new 1000 or 5000 to replace my tired 1000 mag mount. So far my Wilson 500 is still working well, but less user friendly if I have to take it apart like the 1000 to track down a bad magnet foil SWR issue. Thanks...
My Wilson 1000 poor SWR experience
Greetings and hope I can help!
I bought a 2nd (or 3rd) hand Wilson 1000, worked great for the 1st 6 months after buying it off of flea-bay, but then the SWR kept climbing. I tried to tune it and ended up cutting off almost an inch off the whip with no...
More mics than radios......
I've been bitten by the need-cleaner-LOUDER-better-nicer-etc audio bug and my mic collection is growing. Various stock OEM mics, few RK56s, D104M6B, two cobra Dynamike pre-amp mics, a vintage realistic pre-amp on my TRC457 and my overall favorite, 575M6. Looking at...
Vintage Turners wired to 5 pin Cobra/Uniden SSB radios?
Most of my radios have 5 pins and noticed that older tuners, like the +2 SSB or +3, only have 3 conductors plus shield. Would I have to jump 2 pins on the 5 pin mic plug to get them to work with, say, a 148GTL? Or a Grant XL? Also, I have...
D104M6B vs 575M6
Just got off the radio and my US-made 575M6 (on my HR2510) was performing better than the D140M6 shooting skip today on CH38 LSB. My 575M6 is close to 20 years old and bought it brand new from a great tech in Nashua NH, too bad he's passed on now. Good techs are hard to find...
