Icom IC-7410 export radio arrives. Its long, its heavy.

590SG has better ears than the FTDX-1200. I myself like the 7410 but everyone has their liking. I am comfortable operating it and it has a bombproof front end :)

Icom IC-7410 export radio arrives. Its long, its heavy.

Funny you mention superbowl 6. Yeah the 7410 impressed me when I set the 4.6/3 filter and channel 5 and 7 were quiet :) That impressed me. I have tested it on all bands, its a solid radio really good recieve I would say the best bang for the buck in the entire ICOM base range, they are selling...

Icom IC-7410 export radio arrives. Its long, its heavy.

Think about it, whats the best band to properly test a receiver. CB is the perfect band to test out those fancy components designed to fight QRM. On another note. How come so many 10 meter radios sell but when you go to 10 meters its dead. You would think with all those 10meter Galaxy amateur...

    38LSB

Conditions really suck lately. Best chance is to try and work 38 during your grey line time. A few days ago I easily worked Canada etc.. during Grey line time. But conditions now are quite poor. When conditions are good, I can work West coast from florida.

Icom IC-7410 export radio arrives. Its long, its heavy.

Having a little fun, Don't they call the Galaxy amateur radios "Exports" :) Anyhow this is my favorite optimal setting for listening/monitoring CB channels. --------------------------- Roofing filter of 3khz AM filter of 4.6khz --------------------------- That filter setting wipes out the...

Icom IC-7410 export radio arrives. Its long, its heavy.

What will be my base station arrives. This radio is quite heavy almost twice the weight of the IC-7200 which will be the Jeep radio/mobile or field use. It is very long so it sticks upfront and it does take up quite a bit of space on the desk so if your thinking of one, make sure it will fit...

    Listening on 11 meters....

Someone from Mexico speaks and uses lingo that is different from someone in Spain or someone in Colombia. I also hear other folks not from Mexico also speaking about such business so it is not just Mexico.

    Listening on 11 meters....

I am a fluent spanish speaker in addition to english. :) So you can hear them talk about stuff. They have nicknames for things etc.. sometimes you will hear stuff out in the 6mhz or 8mhz LSB as well.

Lol that looks like a pc power supply. I seriously doubt this thing will put out more that 80 watts pep at 25% duty cycle.

    IC-7200 still working like a champ :)

Yeah the 7410 is a great radio, I am looking at getting one myself for permanent base use and then use the 7200 for field and mobile use. But you can't beat the little 7200 for 800 bucks it's a big step above the Galaxy etc.. Btw how does the noise reduction etc.. Sound compared to the 7200...

    IC-7200 still working like a champ :)

LOL I have seen one of those, they are bright as hell. It looks like ICOM has discontinued the IC-7200, makes sense they were blowing them out for 800 dollars. I make lots of contacts with it, From Miami I was reaching Nevada Lake Mead national park no problems. Giving them 7pounds on 38LSB and...

    Listening on 11 meters....

You can also hear lots of Cabs in South America operating in the 25.6-27.950 range. Some times even Mexican drug runners etc.. operating on some of those frequencies.

Looks like this guy caught a little break...Fine reduced

You should hear what goes on the Licensed Ham frequencies, ie 14313khz or 80 meters. I dont hear the same nastyness on 38 some hear, I was working ch 38 and the folks are quite professional, getting plenty of contacts etc.. no issues. I do think 11 meters should be converted to something like...

If your 128 pill amp isn't enough........

I wonder how "Wide" that signal will be when you put out? Yeah this is how you get uncle charlie to give you a visit. Only way to run it is probably out in some field and use a Yagi :)

    IC-7200 still working like a champ :)

Getting good contacts up north, (NC etc..) on ch 38 LSB with 102 inch whip barefoot and SM-20 deskmike. Anyhow this radio cuts through the QRM on 38LSB due to its clean low IMD signal :) NR level 4 NB level 29 and you get signals out of the mud, plus no listening fatigue. Squelch works nicely...

    under channel 1

Then you have the crazy folks who work Echo Charlie frequencies. 86/85m 3430-3500 calling 3470 LSB 45m 6530-6700 calling 6670 LSB This is actual Echo Charlie 29m 10400 USB (Experimental freeband frequency) 21m 13900-14000 calling 13970 USB (13930 used when 13970 has jamming) 21m South...

26.715 is used for the toma channel. It's guys saying toma toma toma toma toma toma on their 10 kilowatt setups

Cb channels empty for the most part.

I would say except for 12-15 locals clustered on one or two channels, it's interesting to note that most of the time the channels are empty. What is the experience around your part of town?
