I think a big problem with any power Mic is a lot of people turn them up to 11. This is where you need a receiver radio to hear what you sound like, and a scope doesn't hurt either. My plus 2 always got great reports on ssb with a Pez Jackson. The plus 3 worked great also, on the cobra 2k, until...
I have a silver, push button grant, pc-409 board. Great radio. Has the 2 switch channel mod though. Loaned it to my brother and he never hooked it up. Need to get it back.
I lived in an old farm House in high school. One day I was sitting in my upstairs room watching a storm when lightning struck the lightning rod right above my head. I saw the porcelain ball shattered pieces fly to the ground. No damage to the house. Lightning did take out Dad's cb, a TV and...
Did you find a manual? I have had one for years. The wire out the back should be to read receive freq when the switch is on T-R. I never did figure out how to hook it up.
It will work at 5 feet, local will probably be effected more than DX. Just think about mobiles, my wilson 1000 is about 4 feet and I have talked to base stations up to 40 miles and DX Ohio to Brazil.
I was giving it to a Canadian from 3:30-4:00 on 17 LSB. Someone else got him going and I jumped in:) I just heard him on 17 am again but I stayed in the bushes.
I have had Fl in my receive a lot lately, talked to 165 and 71 yesterday. Have made contact with 222 but barely. My little radio shack mobile is workin'.
I talked to Florida, Ok and Texas between 3 and 4am on my drive to work. Same thing yesterday, heard a Texan and thought he was a local. Still rolling at 9am.
I like the tupperware or something similar. You could easily cut down the front and back, cut holes just big enough for the wires and slide the wires down the cut to the hole and seal it back up. Just pull the lid to turn on/off ect.
I actually have the RK 70j. The battery that came in mine I took apart and bought the size watch batteries inside. They slide right in the sleeve but have not tried it yet, since the 12v is working fine.
