Marconi, i used the same ant bracket but I put a "C" shaped piece of steel between the ant and the bracket and mounted 2 opposing 102's on the "C". Works great and is indestructable.

I ran the D104 until I got a good deal on a rough but working turner +3. I set the Dynamike wide open and turn the mic up on AM to sound clean and clear, when I go to SSB I turn the Dynamike to 12o'clock or so. I watch the meter on the radio and set it so it's not pegging
You guys are just too close. Study antennas a little to learn about angle of radiation and how the signal bounces of the ionosphere AND Earth for those DX CONTACTS. Maybe use a globe of the earth and mark your contacts to get an idea where you get the bounces.
