    My Cobra 2k gets those channels, I have a 6 pos. switch where the phone jack is and a toggle where the AUX is. I have to flip the toggle switch to get there with 6 pos switch in a certain pos.

    Check to see if the speaker switch has been used for a mod. I think the PA/CB switch is the 10kc on my radio and the tone is variable power.

    You said Dynamic, I guess you meant Rec. Deoxit is what I use to clean switches and relays. Might need to recap the receive section, mine has the hiss also. I don't have stock speakers, I use bookshelf speakers right now.

    What radio? If it is a mobile you could start with PA. The best is a second radio to monitor your transmitted audio.

    Have you guys looked into changing some caps in your receive for better sounding audio. Makes the receive easier to listen to and the "HIFI" guys sound a lot better. I did it to my 148GTL and it made a world of difference when using good speakers.

    Don't worry about the West just work what you hear. Got Ireland this morning LSB 27.415 Pres Jackson and 102 whip. First trip across the pond and did it barefoot. I think my problem with 36-40 is I get carrier on them and it's hard to pull people out so I go to the freeband channels

    What 307 is saying is most operators will not call back a bad sounding transmission, you want to be clean and clear. You need a real AB biased amp.
