Thats definatly true. I've ran into a couple of problems with the new 29 and 25's... the stock 2078's are pure junk... the 2078's in the older radio could be peaked up to some decent power... but these new ones short out with a basic peak and tune.Now I won't peak up the power without switching...

Did you ever end up doing anything with this amp? Like adding in the delay? Its a class c amp so I'm not sure if you would want to use something like that on ssb since you are a serious ssb'er. You might end up adding in a delay and a bias circuit to get that amp sounding a little better...

No not an expensive repair... a good experience tech can trace the problem ... its possible there could be parts needed... but either way its worth getting it fixed. The prices at our shop are alot different than in the US ( I'm in Canada) so I can really say how much it will cost to get fixed...
