I put EXTRA FREEKENSIES on my galaxy 2547 today, just because i have that kind of time and my cobra had it and i found the mod and was like oh what the hell why not. and now it goes all over the place i believe 26.6950 to 27.9650 or something like that anyways if you have a galaxy 2547 and know how to decently solder its easy as heck. just do the mod from CBworldinformer. get yourself one of those 6 posistion switches from radioshack for like 2.99 wire it up and its a piece of cake. but i must ask DOES ANYONE TALK ON THOSE EXTRA CHANNELS????? i dont really care my radio is usually parked on 27.3750 all day. anyways see ya

Yup, especially when the skip is rollin'. You'll find mainly SSB activity above 27.405 (CB channel 40), and mainly AM below 26.965 (CB channel 1).

Check out 26.915.... its a really busy AM DX channel. Usually when you start getting below 26.855 there isn't too much skip except for mexicans (well thats the way it is where I am located... it could be different in other locations)

Below channel 1 is where alot of the am dx is..... above channel 40 is where the ssb'ers hang out.
The 2 main frequencies for dx out of the cb band are:
27.555 for sideband
26.915 for AM
If skip is rolling you will usually find alot of traffic on those 2.

26.285 MHz is also considered an international SSB calling frequency. At the peak of the solar cycle you will hear a lot of European stations there,This freq is not as congested as .555 and there are not as many hecklers and jammers there.

Just to add a little. The upper portion of the band will really get hoping when the solar cycle nears it's peak and it can be hard to find a place to talk.

One place that I go to and talk with lots of people from Europe is; 27.537 usb. This is were a lot of people hang out from different countries - Belgium, Germany, France, UK and several more.

DXman,
did you mean 27.535mhz USB?

im curious because that is the official calling frequency of the Orient Pirate DX club.
pretty big club with members all over the world.
i am 2OP410.

good freq. for international DX!

Remember that some countrys, like the US have channels that end in 5`s, but not all of them do.
If you limit yourself to just the 5`s you are missing spots were DX from other countrys sometimes is at.
This is were a radio with a VFO is handy.

AudioShockwav is right.

There are lots of people using the "0"'s also, such as 27.510, 520, 530, 540 and so on.
A lot of Export radio's with A, B, C, & D bands and CB radio's with the added channels, do miss out on a lot ofdx activity, mostly because they can't move the TX & RX enough.

Like last year, I ran across a group of guys in Australia using 27.477 USB, it was nice quite place for them to park and very little interference.

why .537 thats like channel 53 but just way off frequency. but whatever my clairfier almost goes up a complete channel and im not one of those people who never moves their clarifier.
bigred222,
It's not considered a channel. It is a freq. - 27.537. Just like channel 38, it is actually 27.385. Above ch.40, everyone will say what freq. that they will move to, not what channel.
