I recently got a Turner Super Sidekick in VGC o/t it has no element in it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what element(s) would be a decent sounding replacement for the stock unit? This will be primarily used for SSB on Uniden/Cobra/Galaxy radios. Just starting to research this and...

The chart that came with my old A99 lists it as a 67" top section from the factory. For 28.372, they show length of 56"; for 28.468, they show 55". This is from the original Antron (one T) Co., circa 1989. They also state "do not move the rings". Personally, I know of no one around here...

The forerunner of this was the A/S Super Magnum, my first ever "for real" CB antenna back in 1965. The SM had the four 9' horizontal radials and was supposed to compete equally with the Hy-Gain CLR-2, which was a 5/8 wave with three 9' radials. Guess which one worked better? 1/2 wave or 5/8...

My son has one on his F-150 with a passengers side mirror mount. SWR is down where it should be. He likes the way it looks and works, I think it looks ridiculous, but to each his own. I'll stick with my Wilson 5000's.

Although I have no experience with Magnum radios, I'm very happy with everything I've gotten from Bob's CB. Just my $.02.

MC- Good idea. Timing couldn't be better either, I'm getting ready to build a 4 element flatside to put up on my 2nd tower. Interested in seeing your construction techniques. Particularly how you're feeding it. As I recall, you're not a fan of gammas. :wink:

Not really in your backyard, but DTB in Carlisle, PA and Bob's CB in Strattanville, PA (I-80, center of state) both have good reps. Might be better to pack'em up and ship'em off? Just thinkin' out loud. :wink:
