The International Rectifier brand IRF520 mosfets that you'll see in the Galaxy Radios are good for approximately 25 to 30 watts of peak power each in the 25mhz to 28mhz range. So knowing this you can do the math for peak power.
DX98VHP with (8) IRF520s = 200-240 watts peak.
DX94HP with...
Bob's pretty good on those Galaxy "DX" models as well. He only calls once in awhile to ask me for some replacement part he needs to fix a radio still in warranty. That alone says a lot and other repair shops should be taking notes.

The Galaxy Melaka was built by Ranger Inc overseas for the Nochman Bros. in New York. They also imported and sold the Pluto, Saturn, Saturn Turbo and a few other non "DX" models. No contact number, no warranty and no returns. Supply and demand was the only thing they had going for them until a...
The "Watch Tower" sound was done with distortion from a Wha Wha pedal. It's still used today by many guitarist. When you remove the modulation transistor or AMC limiter in these radios it increases distortion on the echo, talkback and your modulated signal making you sound like crap. The...
Even though the DX98VHP uses eight IRF520 mosfets and not 1446 bipolars it can still run pretty hot. However if the deadkey on the radio does not exceed 70 watts and there is plenty of air circulation below the bottom heatsink you will be fine. The bottom heatsink with dual internal fans is...
It's electrically impossible to see the values I've posted and not show 10 watts to the wattmeter unless you have bad coax.
Sometimes it's good to just walk away and come back to it again later with an open mind.
Repairing any electronics is 60% symptom analysis (recognizing what's not working) and 40% troubleshooting.
So just knowing exactly what's not working is over half the battle.
Below you'll find enough info to repair any Galaxy radio with good receive and no transmit power.
You only need two...
I think you need to keep the 100K pot and 100K resistor as shown. Removing the 100K resistor and just using a 50K pot will cause the pot to overheat and burn out.
You might be able to fix the counter as mostly all had the same problem. Diode D603 (2.4v .5 watt zener) overheating. Normally just replacing it with a larger 1-watt version would do the trick.

Not quite 50 watts because you have to remember this is a FCC type accepted CB model and not a 10-meter model. Already mentioned the driver and final were mosfets if that's what you're calling pills?
Should be ready by the 2nd week of Jan 08.
I'll get some pics posted pretty soon.

It gives your radio capability to select the five reserved channels allocated for RC operation such as remote controlled cars and planes plus baby monitors, older garage doors and even some cordless mice. These channels are sometimes referred to as the alpha channels.
