Ok so I just ordered the Stryker 497hp and will also be ordering the Magnum s9 175, so I decided to get both radios. I just hope the Magnum is trouble free.

I do have a 2950dx and the 257 hp which I like for sideband, the new radio I want would be mostly for the extra toys like talkback echo etc. But I do want it to be loud and clear. Good audio is very important for me.

Ok so now I have boiled it down to a few radios, I am thinking about the Magnum s9 175 with nitro knobs, Connex 3600HP,Stryker SR490HP ,RCI-2970n2.

Robb what radio would you recommend?

Thanks for the input, any suggestions I would like to get great audio and over 100 watts, how is the 2970n? I love my 2950 dx. I was wondering what else would be a good choice.

Magnum or Ranger I have the Magnum 257hp and the RCI-2950dx, I am thinking about getting another radio maybe Magnum s9 175 nitro or RCI-2970n. Looking for something that puts out decent wattage and sounds great and I do want talk back and echo. Any suggestions out there?

Robb, Thanks for the info, I ordered a small fan for the heat sink, how would you attach it to the heat sink? Can I have it standing up behind it, would that work? I was thinking about doing that and powering by a cigarette lighter plug that has a wall plug attached to the other end.

This morning I took the amp that was inline but not used for this radio I use it with the Realistic HTX-100. And now the Magnum on SSB swings full power. I wonder what that was about but the thing rocks with solid audio.

I finally received the Magnum 257hp back from the shop. It seems to be working fine, I was checking it out on the Dosy meter with power turned up it is showing 20 watts on USB and LSB but when I put it on AM it swings to about 70 watts. I am not sure about this. Any info would be appreciated.

You will not find any jumpers in there, Walcott has told me they are removed at the factory (cut off) so the radios can be importered into the US. I wanted mine strictly for 10 meter use, so it did not matter to me. The radio worked great for the first 10 minutes when I got it then it stopped...

After they saw the radio they should have sent another out to me. Its been 2 weeks since I sent it back and Magnum has not looked at it yet. I just ordered a RCI-2950 from Copper, I really think I got a lemon with the 257hp.

The radio is their now. The right thing to do was for Walcott to send me a replacement, since I only had the radio for 10 minutes and got it out to them right away.

Has anyone had problems with there Magnum 257HP? I recently bought one from Walcott CB and it died out the first 10 minutes of use. Walcott CB has been useless, no exchange or refund only warranty repair I was told. If you do plan on getting a Magnum radio dont get it at Walcott CB, they dont...
