Not sure about yours but I know a guy that did his with a 102 whip and another mobile antenna in the L shape and he said his wasn't directional so yours will probably be omni now I am looking to do something like that and I am going by what he said so let me know how it works for you

The cora 142 is a good radio basically the same as a 2000 just not as nice looking and no freq counter. But the old presidents and uniden bases were good radios also and can be had for a reasonable price if you look around

A friend of mine has one and don't like it had it on my meter stock and it was keying like 3.5 watts not sure what can be done to them but his didn't recieve well

701 try putting a 6 inch shaft on each antenna and try that. The fiberglass antennas are not as good IMO as the steel whip and really wouldn't change your readings much plus won't take as much abuse I.E. hitting low flying limbs Try the 6 inch spacer if it don't work only make one antenna live...
