Thank you that is what I needed to hear. I have no freq counter and from the looks of things by the time I bought a meter set and afreq counter it would cost about the same plus this is one unit for my small bench
on your mobile you should NOT get continuity center to outer. If you do you have a problem. you should get continuity by touching the center lead and the antenna shaft. And you could get continuity when you touch the outer shied and a ground on you car. I know if your antenna is herd mounted you...
I tried conduit and wire so far this works the best I took it outside and checked swr and it is even better outside. I can't wait for everything to dry so I can put it where I want and try to make a contact or two
Well as you all know I've been expermenting with making dipoles Today I made a dipole out of pvc and wire and it looks promising as far as laying on the floor my swr on channel 1 was 1.4 channel 23, 1.2 and on channel 12 it was 1.3. I knew it wouldn't be much better cause I tuned it for...
I seen it and you know what sucks over there they don't even care if you have a legit complaint against swp'ed radios. I can see them deleting a thread for flaming a sponsor but just giving his opinion that is so flipping stupid. I would never buy a radio that is swp'ed just seems like it won't...
Believe me doc if I get this one to work well then I may just make two and set up with an antenna switch cheaper than buying one right now and I know they pick up skip already heard it. So two antennas may not be to far off in the future
Thank you I have this locked away in my brain cause I have the same radio and would never want to get rid of it. It will help me if I ever have the same problem
I'm going to try a pvc dipole (wire inside) what i'm wondering does the pvc hamper the signal and how bad is the local talk going to be? By that is it that I'm not going to hear anyone for five miles and closer or is it some thing else can get this up about 20 foot
I've never tried it that way the thing I know is that horizontal the aren't much good for local use but having it angled should help the local and dx from what i hear
First let me say the one I had was given to me 13 years ago Don't know if solarcon made them back then. Mine had a metal band at the bottom, the bottom half was about an 1 and a half inch diameter went up about eight foot then a eight foot fiberglass antenna screwed in to the top. I cut the side...
Switch i am just curious if the james brown toy sounds fine then wouldn't it be the toy not letting his voice through. I'm not doubting you just would like to know does the toy have its own regulator
I wonder if you did two verticals at 4 foot then two horizontals at 4 foot would this work as dipole you know kind of make it look like a field goal post
I'm loving all this. It is a whole lot of fun. It felt really good when I was listening to skip the other day on my home made antenna. I like building this kind of stuff. The one thing I asked that no one seemed to answer is is there a better material I can build this antenna out of like copper...
