Yes I checked the wiring and the the mic is wired correctly from what I can see.. I get a carrier but no audio. I am thinking its the mic though It is screen modulated i believe. No modulation transformer.

I have another dx 40 here that wont modulate. I have a unamplifed d104 wired to it. But nothing. Checked the speech amplifer tube and the modulation tube. Those seem fine. Any ideas?

Well I have built and used 1/2 wave center fed before, The receive was noticably better on it than my end fed even at a lower height. I may just go with the center fed without a ballun. I have tested it as I said, but was concerned about how the bandwith could be affected by the orientation...

Thanks for the info Mole. After reveiwing that page I think I want to avoid an end-fed antenna. Ok, so what about other types of wire antennas? The OFC dipole? Center-Fed with 1;1 balun? Center-Fed without a balun? And the various types of bazooka antennas? T23

Thats true with the power limitation being the transformer... I'll look into it some more... If I did get one, I would have to orient it in a horizontal V config. Feed point at the peak of the roof with eatch end at a 45 degree angle or so. It would also be a little more versitile too...

I was wondering, is it needed to have the metal box or case on a transmitter, a tube transmitter to be exact? I see this alot in photos of older transmitters with only a chassis and front panel (ham wise). My question is arent these needed to sheild from rf exposer? T23

I just orderd one from radio-mart. Great price shipped out next day, it should be here tommarow, I may do a breif review since this transceiver is not that well known... Its so hard these days finding a vhf or uhf rig that only doess whats nessesary, I dont need a mini toaster and a coffee...

I am well aware of all the technical aspect of MURS and radio in general, I was asking of a paticular brand recommendation of an antenna that is built well and wouldnt have any charicteristics that would impede on tuning it.
