The TCXO is a nice feature. But I would trade echo, roger beep, and talkback for repeater offsets, PL tones, and split operation. Useful features.

My German is not very good, but I would have to say if you can program the keying delay, it is a solid state switch.
Texas Star are not amplifiers. They are CW transmitters. You pick a frequency in the 10 meter band, and install the crystal for that frequency. Of course if you remove the oscillator circuit, they make a marginally good amplifier.
i have had both the Ft 450 and the IC 718. 450 all the way.DSP, digital signal processing, converts th analog signal to digital, allowing to clean it up, then back to analog. Works much better in the IF stage, not AF like the 718.

A local CB'er has one in town. He has it up quite high, which makes it work fair.. Ir is overrated though. Not a quad with only 3 sides. The advantage is it is small, and can be turned with small rotor.

I have the TL922 myself, very close to the same. Have the soft key installed. I see Harbach has the caps in stock again. Might have to get the kit soon.
