    New Magnum Radio

I found a video on the Maxlog. The clarifier is a B vfo, aand can be used to set rcv, tx, or transceive. that will give you splits anyway. Rich

    New Magnum Radio

The TCXO is a nice feature. But I would trade echo, roger beep, and talkback for repeater offsets, PL tones, and split operation. Useful features. Rich

    Ft 991 and eco750

http://www.ssb.de/pdfs/Blueline-Bedienungsanleitungv4.pdf My German is not very good, but I would have to say if you can program the keying delay, it is a solid state switch.

    Ft 991 and eco750

A modern solid state amplifier like that should take very little to key it. Check the manual when you get before you hook it up. Rich

    Amp question

Texas Star are not amplifiers. They are CW transmitters. You pick a frequency in the 10 meter band, and install the crystal for that frequency. Of course if you remove the oscillator circuit, they make a marginally good amplifier.

The family behind my first HF rig..now which one?

i have had both the Ft 450 and the IC 718. 450 all the way.DSP, digital signal processing, converts th analog signal to digital, allowing to clean it up, then back to analog. Works much better in the IF stage, not AF like the 718. Rich

    maco V-quad?

tad better If it was a true quad, I would say about even.

    maco V-quad?

A local CB'er has one in town. He has it up quite high, which makes it work fair.. Ir is overrated though. Not a quad with only 3 sides. The advantage is it is small, and can be turned with small rotor. Rich
